My baby girl Kylie, is eating Nutro natural choice large breed. She is doing good her coat is shiny and thick, she has tons of energy, but gets eye mucous. Is it normal to have some discharge or should is it due to her diet? She is 6 months.
Also is she underweight when you can see her ribs a little. Should I only be able to feel them but not see them? Thank You.

Nutro natural is not the best choice. The Nutro Ultra is much better. You may find that better food may reduce the eye boogers. You should be able to see the last three ribs. Anymore than that and you boxer may be a bit thin. I wouldn't worry about it though as most adolescent boxers go through a very skinny stage and will fill out by the time they are 2 - 3. It's better to be a bit thin than too fat, especially when they are growing.

Sascha had the nastiest eye boogers when she was eating eukanuba. They would be big thick strings, that sometimes reached all the way down to her nose. That was one reason why she was only on that food for 1 bag. Then we switched her to Wellness, and they got a little better but not tons. Now, she's on solid gold, and they are MUCH better. She doesn't have them every day now, and when she does, they are just little bitty things.

We have Jersey on Sensible Choice Natural Blend Adult. She was on Eukanuba and she had terrible eye boogers. She has been eating the Sensible Choice for about a month and a half now and she is much better with the eye guk. Only gets occasional thin, short strips of it now. Her coat is nice and shiny and she is not sneezing anymore like she used to.

We picked up a bag of the Boxer Blend Royal Canin dog food last night (my husband insisted on trying it, even though I read here that it's not necessary). I'll let you know how she does on it.

Also, we give her spring or filtered water to drink. Never straight tap water. And I empty her water bowl a couple of times a day and wash it out with soapy water. Since we started that, it has cut down drastically on her alleriges.

same with Bodi hardly any eye boogers on solid gold!! Isn't this food awesome! Do you notice less poo which is also more solid?

Maggie hardly has any eye boogers since we started Merrick. She had eye boogers on lots of other "premium foods". I think it all depends on your dog's system...

I have yet to find a food that will get rid of the thick eye boogers. On Merrick they are less. I had put her on a hamburger and rice diet because of severe diarehha (sp?) from the anestetic from being spayed. Not a single eye booger and if there was it was tiny. She went back to her normal diet of Merrick and they are coming back. She has had Chicken Soup and Canidae and still gets eye boogers. When she goes back to the vet I am going to have him check her tear ducts. I have been putting mackeral in her food the last few days and I dont see the eye boogers that bad.

This is just my experience

Harlie has been getting really thick eye boogies too lately, ick! But its from her allergies. She has a little bit of a runny nose too. Poor baby

Colby has been getting them more recently and I'm wondering if it's due to Merrick or if it's due to allergies. He's been on Chicken Soup and never really got them and now I've started adding Merrick in with the Chicken Soup and he's been getting them just about every day. He seems to have allergies, though, and I'm wondering if these eye boogers are from that. His eyelids are a little droopier than Skye's are, so maybe I just notice his more than hers. The vet said before if he gets the eye boogers, to put the antibiotic cream in them for a few days. Guess I'll have to try that...
