Eye Boogies

My 2.5 y/o boy has been having more eye discharge than normal. I put some neo-polybac Antibiotic ointment in both eyes. He just keeps getting this stringy discharge. we recently (a month ago) changed there food to a better brand (Premium Edge). Coats look wonderful, and everyone elses eyes are ok, but he has this discharge, and the last 2 weeks, seem to be more. just very stringy when you try to wipe away... Thanks

Ever since we changed Lael to Wellness, her constant eye boogies have disappeared. Her eye boogies were always a bit 'stringy'. However, I think it's okay to have eye boogies, as long as they are not a dark yellow or green color, which means there may be an infection.

Every once in a while Lael will get boogies again for a day or so (usually when the pollen is bad). I just give her a drop or two of Visene in each eye once a day. This seems to help her eyes flush out whatever is irritating them. Soon, she's back to no boogies.

I'm not an expert, but I might suggest trying Visene for a few days to see if that helps.

We have a similar problem with our boy Panzer. I don't think his eye discharge is related to his food though. His vet says his eyelids turn in and cause conjunctivitis and the discharge.

If your boy has always had eye discharge, you might want to check with your vet to be sure it's just the food (and NOT an eye problem). Haven't had any experience with food causing discharge but it's not a crazy thing to assume. Hope it is just the food change.

Our vet said that there should be a negligible amount of discharge, if any, if the eye and lid are healthy.

We just switched Tyson and Ali to wellness to! I didn't know it got rid of the eye boogers to! YEAH appicon I thought we were just going to have to wipe away the boogers every morning! Thank Goodness

Do not mean to rain on your perade but Asia eats Wellness and still has eye discharge.

I honestly can't say that food alone will take away (or cause) eye boogies. In Lael's case, her eyes cleared up, her gas went away (yep, almost NO gas now), her dry skin cleared up and is super healthy with a shiny coat ... ever since Wellness. So you're right, I couldn't promise you that Wellness will do all that for your Boxer, but it did for mine - which does cause me to believe that food is a factor in SOMETHING that causes eye boogies. Not that Wellness is a cure-all for eye boogies.

I have found that rinsing Oscar's eyes with a sterile eye wash [no meds] a couple times a weeks helps.
