Does anyone have experience with eye discharge? Owen always has some eye boogers, but since Saturday, he's got lots more. His left eye is very leaky and creates thick tan to light green discharge about once an hour.

It doesn't bother him at all. He doesn't notice it at all, and it doesn't appear overly red, or puffy at all. He was with a new boxer friend (and her humans) last weekend when we went out of town, and we do have a cat with full claws. Any ideas of cause or treatment?

Thanks,
Tina

Green is bad! It indicates an infection. Willis had one at about 3 months and we cured it with polysporin eye drops twice a day for about 2 weeks. Consult your vet though, they might have a different/better treatment in mind.

Thanks, Rlr. Giraffe. That's what I thought :(. BF called the vet, and they didn't seem too concerned, but it's been almost a week with no improvement. I think I'll have BF call for a vet appointment. I thought maybe I was being over protective, but better safe than sorry :).

Same thing happened to my pup. Greenish yellowish discharge completely covered his whole eyeball. I thought it was conjuctivitis but it just ended up being a reaction to his allergies to airborne things. Hopefully It's nothing serious. Good Luck.

Panzer consistently has eye discharge. Some days it is worse than others. Our vet indicated it was conjunctivitis and his eyelids turn in, aggravating his eye.

She gave us an ointment, then drops but nothing has fixed it long-term. The next course of action is surgery to tack the eyelids.

Another thought on the cause of eye discharge... Could it be from environmental irritants? I noticed a high amount of airborne pollen this weekend. Sure enough, his eye whites were irritated and red.

Sorry, I haven't logged in in a while. Owen's Dad took him to the vet Thursday. She checked for wounds in the eye with some glowing eye drops and did a "tear test" which came in irritated for one eye. She gave us some drops to put in the eye three times a day for two weeks. It could be worse :) . At least my cat didn't put a hole in his eyeball ! He has also come down with his third bout of a minor penis/sheath infection. She gave us the same medicine all three times (Dermagen ointment usually used for ears). Any advise on the boy parts malfunction?
