How much exercise does your boxer get? I try to walk Milo all the time but it doesn't seem like enough. The minute we get home he is doing sprints up and down our stairs and around our family room. In fact he is doing them now. It is so funny!foolicon

well
Allie and I walk/run at least a mile a day
sometimes more
and usually thats at night

however when i get home from work we go into the backyard to wrestle for about 15 minutes

then she stays out there for another 20 minutes or so running around with my other dog

then we all come inside for a 30 minute nap

then we go walking or outside again

than nothing until that night for our run!

Here it all depends on whats going on. They may get 3 walks or two?? but always a walk at night and off leash in the field to play with their friends no matter how late it is. I prefer the off leash and running free. I always figured that too much road walking was no good?? They also have a fenced in yard to play too. I have to agree though no matter how much you exercise them boxers seem to have that energizer bunny in them

During the warmer months, or even warmer days now, Riley and I got for walks daily. I'm not sure what the actual distance we walk is, but it takes us about a half hour (Riley's speed). We try to have a good wrestling match once a day and that can go anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.. Other than that, we just play tugging games inside or play chase with a ball or stick outside.

Depends on the weather here but for the most part exercise comes in the form of play!! In the spring and fall when it's not too hot or cold we tend to take more walks/hikes/etc (usually just on weekends). But unless the dogs are off leash when on an outing the amount of exercise they receive from it does not compare to the amount of exercise they receive from play. They will tire themselves out with play and it doesn't matter how far or long I walk them...I *can't* tire them no matter how hard I try!!smashicon When on a leashed walk I think the dogs are actually happy to see us coming up to the house (they perk up and quicken their pace) so that they can get off that pesky leash and RUN/JUMP/TACKLE/etc!!:D I think the whole purpose of me walking the dogs is so *I* can get some exercise!

Ours don't settle down until about 8:30 PM! Then they decide it snuggle time. A typical day with Hammer & Ginger:

In the AM they get let out in the backyard to do their business at about 5:00 AM, then they have playtime in or out (depending on weather) until I leave at 6:45. Then when I get home at 4:30 it is non-stop action for 4 hours at least, plus we go on a 1-2 mile walk every evening after dinner.

I've found that walking alone for BooBoo isn't enough, so we started him on playing frisbee. Now everyday he gets 15-20 minutes of frisbee time with him sprinting back and forth on our little cul-de-sac... works wonders for his appetite and sleeping later on...

First thing each day (about 7:00am)we go out, they do business and we walk 1/2 mile after business.

Approx. 10:00am, we go out again, and we either go to the park on the weekends for a romp with each other or with their doggie friends, for about an hour. They play full out, non stop.

After lunch, we walk another 1/2 mile and come home.

Before dinner, we walk another 1/2 mile.

About an hour after dinner, we take a 2 mile walk, or circumstances permitting, we go to the park again and they play for another hour.

We go out for another 1/2 mile walk around 9:00pm and that's it for the day.

Of course, we can't always meet this schedule, and we do what we can on bad weather days. On those days, they tend to play in the house with each other, fetch, chase, wrestle on the bed, etc.

This seems plenty for my two girls. They are tired and we come home and they most always lie down and rest or sleep for at least a couple of hours after playing in the park. They are not destructive in the least when I'm not home because they have received plenty of exercise and know that they'll get more fun and play time when I get home. So plenty of exercise has, in my opinion, been one of the major reasons why my dogs behave well at home alone, they don't have sep. anxiety issues, and they are extremely fit and muscular and healthy as well.

Remember also that mental exercise such as training and working on heeling, recall, etc., etc., is also as good as physical exercise at wearing out your dogs. If the weather is bad, we will do some trainnig exercises in the house for about 1/2 hour, then play some and do quick outings for "business" only. This works well for me and the dogs too.

Good luck

Louie loves going rollerblading! We take him at least every weekend, and about two or three times during the week when my boyfriend gets off work early enough.
Then of course there's the daily playtime in the park. We have a wooded area right by our apartment, and Louie (if his friends can't come out to play) will entertain himself for a long time by rolling his ball down the hill, then chasing it, then back up again. We do this every day for at least 45 minutes. And then there's always fetch, in the house, down the hallway 100's of times... that alone wears him out.

We run between 2 and 5 miles/day about 4 days/week and walk a mile or two on the other days. Rowdy also has 1/2 acre fenced backyard that he spends most of his days in while I am working. He comes in for 2-4 hours during each day and he sleeps on his pillow next to my bed at night. He doesn't wake up at night very often. Neither do I.

I found a rubber jogging track that is fenced in so Rowdy can run off leash as long as nobody else is there.(usually on weekends at 10pm)
