I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I can exercise Roscoe, my 9 week old puppy. It is very cold here, in the single digits, and his little legs tremble if he is outside for more than five minutes, so walks and playing outside are out of the question. I have taken him over to my sister's to run around and play with her Springer in the house, but I am afraid my sister wouldn't want me there every day :) He always has a lot of energy in the evening when I get home from work and I have no ideas as how to help him burn up this energy. Any suggestions???

My house has a fairly open floor plan so I get a tennis ball out and let him bounce it around the living room and kitchen. Just know you will be down on your hands and knees alot getting it out from under the love seats.

Yeah, we've tried that but it only lasts about 5 minutes before he is on to something else...like chewing on me!!! His attention span is very short :)

How about a puppy play class in the evenings?

One of the training centers in my area offered a puppy social for 8 - 16 weeks. Just a good way for them to get early interaction with other puppies and owners and release some of that energy ;) Or a puppy kindergarten class is also good. That's only one day out of a week I know, but I found it helped with Winston.

Other than just playing with him yourself when you get home, I can't think of a thing. I feel your pain...this time of the year it is often difficult keeping any aged boxer well exercised. Good luck!

We will be starting a class in the next week or so, but again, that is only one night a week. Since we got him I have not left him alone after I get home from work, so I am constantly trying to find places to go where I can take him, because, frankly, I get a little stir crazy too!! We went to the pet store but I dont like him to walk around on the floors there yet, as he has only had 2 sets of his shots. Argh...I am ready for Spring!!

Some of the things I do with my guys to keep them entertained is:

1) Some training
2) Fetch
3) Tug of War
4) Laser Pointer
5) Set up play dates with other dogs

Play hide and seek - My BF plays this with Lola.... he'll go hide and I'll say "oh Lola where's Daddy" and her wee nubby will go like crazy (16 weeks and knows the game already) she'll start running aroung the house full speed looking for him.... best laugh is he normally always hides in the same place, under her blanket in her bed..... she always looks everywhere else first Lol

We too do the hide and seek, dh always does the hiding! We also hides Elv's toys and he hunts them out and treats! If you hide the toys good it keeps him quiet for some time!
