Excessive urinating after spay...

Cady was spayed yesterday and all day she has peed probably 8 times on my floor even after being outside!

I called the vet this morning because when she went on the kitchen floor it was pink, thinking maybe she had a bladder infection, but the vet said this is typical. Female dogs/spaying are new to me. Mine have been boys!

Is this frequent urinating typical? Is the blood in the urine typical like the vet said?

Thanks for any advice, I am doing like the vet said to do and keep an eye on her and get her in if things don't change, but just seems odd.

Molly was spayed last week and I have had absolutely no problems with her peeing at all. But I do know that a lab was brought into the vet office while I was picking up Molly with the same problem as your girl and the vet said it was normal. But I am not experts just my thoughts.

I did notice Mya peeing a lot more after her spaying. Also pooping. She would go every 20 minutes. It was making me crazy! Most of the time it wasn't a problem and she would make it outside but we did have a few accidents where even she was surprised. She was laying on her back on the couch with us and just started peeing. The look on her face was priceless! She was like "Did I just pee on the couch?" Thank goodness we had it covered with a blanket! Another time she was running after a toy and just started peeing. The vet said that was normal as she had a catheter in and her bladder was a little disrupted. The constant peeing ended after about 4 days. I hope your baby gets well soon!

I've noticed the same thing - she's been urinating more often and is producing a lot more. glad to hear it's normal! she also had diahrea, but that's gotten better. this is the first day that we're leaving her home alone and I'm almost certain that we'll find a little wet surprise when we come home...oh well...

Urinating after spay

Alexis was spayed two weeks ago, and we had the exact same problem. We took her back to the vet, and they told us it was nothing to worry about that after surgery her internals would be a little swollen and bruised causing her to urinate more. After a day or two she was back to normal.

Is she on meds? So med will do that to them. I know When Ally was spayed the med she was on did that to her. once med were gone no more peeing.

The vet said she gave her an antibiotic shot but other than that no meds....
