The "joys" of owning an allergy prone dog...My first girl had allergies. Both food and enviromental. Since Guiness is having symptoms after spending time outside, you'll need to wipe him down before he comes in. Some people use doggy wipes (a tad expensive, but I keep them in my car) or baby wipes (I don't trust them, tho' many do. Somethings are OK for babies and not dogs. Aloe if ingested is toxic to dogs) or what I used was just a cool damp towel. If you have other pets they need to be wiped down as well to keep the allergens out of the house. Actually wiping him down with a cool towel anytime he seems itchy will help relieve some of the itchiness.
Keep windows and door closed, and change your air filter at least once a month. Housekeeping is a must. Dusting, mopping and vacuuming a priority. My girl's allergies were bad enough that I bought a carpet steamer and steamed my carpets once a month. Every other week in the fall when her allergies were at their worse. Wash any bedding regularly.
Yeasty feet, as well as the ears, is often a sign of food allergies. If you don't see a change after a couple of months with the food (it can take that long for the allergens to work their way out of your dog's system) try a limited ingredient food with a different protein source. Say your feeding chicken now, then try a venison or a fish formula. Many people like the Natural Balance line. Good luck! Alllergies can be very trying!
