CC - you are not the only one with a lazy boxer. Tyson and Moose have their daily playtime but, mostly Ty is being a couch potato. If I am sitting on the couch and he curls up next to me to take a nap, I usually end up being kicked repeatedly. Anyone else have a kicker? I do not have a very big yard, so I usually take Tyson over to my mother's house to burn off some energy. He runs laps with my brothers gordon setter, Abby. I can't wait for it to snow so I can see Tyson play in it. :D

laziness & desires

Spotty, too, can be lazy... but usually only on the really hot days here in the summer. He's not into playing with other dogs, but prefers to play with humans, or run around the hills "hunting".

But he INSISTS on the 7:30 am walk/hike, no matter that he was just taken out five min. earlier by hubby. So, he gets me out & up the mountain for some good hiking/trail walking for an hour to hour & half. We usually meet some other people & dogs up there, so that is a bonus. But, boy, does he ever have an alarm clock in him....

I am looking forward to winter... HOPING we get some snow, 'cause Spotty loves snow! (He grew up in Alberta.) And he is such a little heater, that he prefers to go out for walks & playtime when it is cool/cold.

Except for when it is really hot out, he is ready to go for walks at any time. He will sleep the day away otherwise....

If mine don't get they're daily excerise they sure let us know-they are so hyper-wrestling and destroying everything. If they stay on schedule they are very content. They go with Dad all morning-long walk and errands then I take them for a long walk or run in the evening. They know when it's time to go because the whining starts. We try to keep a schedule but some days are hectic and we know what we're in for on those day.

Copper gets about an hour a day, 5 - 6 days a week at the dog park. In the summer he gets over heated really quickly, and with the latest mosquito infestation, got chewed up quite a bit. I always have 2 litres of water and childrens bug spray on hand. In the winter I have to exercise him just as much because my Border Collie goes looney without exercise. Copper hates the cold, however even in -20/-25 C we are out almost every day. After his booties, sweater and touque, he's off and playing.

My family thinks I've lost my mind! :)

That's ok.....lurking on these boards reminds me I'm a normal Boxer owner!;)

I feel exactly the same. I live in orlando and the heat is a problem but it can also work in your favour as the Dog will tire quicker. I have a fenced yard and have had a lot of fun with a laser pointer running Dempsey along the fence line back and forward she loves it and gets tons of excercise. I have aso started taking her to TLC doggie daycare on goodhomes rd a couple of times a week. Especially if know I will be working a lot she comes home totally tired.
Anyhow good luck

I live in Québec and the weather is almost always extreme here! I had my boxer in february, and each time in the winter that I took her for a walk, I had to take her back in my arms after 10 minutes! I hope she will be better this year, it will be harder to take her back in my arms as she weigth 50 lbs now! I use to go at the dog park and she enjoys it a lot, but with all the unsocialised dogs and bad owners out there, I don't want to go there anymore. She's taking a one hour walk almost each afternoon, and on the weekends, late at nigth, I go in the school yard to make her run. She plays sometimes with my neibor's labrador too. I don't think it's enough for her, she's very lazy in the morning ans afternoon, but after she needs to move! So I'm soon starting puppy agility with her (she's nine month), we can practice there in the week, so I hope it will help!
