Juno used to get mistaken as a pittie all the time when she was a pup. It's kind of funny because as an adult, she never gets called a pit... but she gets called a boston terrier ALL THE TIME. You'd think it'd be the opposite, you know, with the major size difference between a full-grown boxer and a boston terrier

.
Every pittie I've met has been an absolute SWEETHEART!!! They remind me a lot of boxers. We get a lot of pitties at school (shelter dogs that we house on-campus for a while) and they are always my favorite to work with because they are so sweet, and so tolerant of all the poking and prodding we may do to them. Out of all the breeds I've worked with--and I've worked with quite a few purebreds and mixes--pitties are my favorite (along with boxers of course; but we seldom get boxers at school).
I wish people would actually MEET pit bulls before saying they are horribly vicious dogs. The media does not help and it does not help that people equate high prey drive/dog aggression with human aggression. Just because a pittie can't safely be around a chihuahua, doesn't mean that same pittie is going to eat a toddler. It's such a ridiculous assumption.
