I am in desperate need of suggestions. I have a screened-in back porch that my Boxers have never shown any interest in. We had a stray cat claw his way through it just this past week. My boxer, Bear, discovered that he can get in and out of the screen now. He even has busted through the intact screen now!!! He can no longer go out in the back yard without me right next to him as he constantly tries to jump through the screen. Does anyone know of a way to protect/guard the screen? Can you recommend any products? Cindy :)

My Mom once had a metal mesh rectangle that she put in front of her sliding screen door. It helped with her cat. You may also trick him into trying to go through the screen with someone in the room to shout "NO!!" really loud a couple of times. I know that Owen does very few things that he knows I don't like, and they carry overwhelming rewards (garbage can and cat box :o) Good Luck! I'm glad that so far Owen has only looked out of our screens:) .

On the screen door of our sliding glass the screen was in terribly bad shape due to age. While shopping for replacement screen (to install ourselves) we ran across pet screen. It is heavier than regular screening comes in multiple colors and it is extremely much stronger than the normal everyday screen. Cami has actually seen squirrels and hit the screen hard enough to remove the entire door from the track, bending the frame so that I may end up with a new door soon cool2icon !!!

She has not yet been able to do any damage to the screen itself it is perhaps Cami proof....if such a thing exists.

I would highly recommend it. It's at least worth a try. Once installed you can't tell a difference by sight. The actual feel of it is almost rubberish/plastic. We got it at either Lowes or Home Depot.

I also have the dog proof screen on my sliding glass door, we got it at Menards and it's actually called 'dog proof' so you know what to look for. It's the best investment I've made being that Jade ALWAYS knocks or jumps on the door when it's time to come in and she has yet to put a tear in it and she's now 22 months old. Next spring I'm going to have to get more for my front window screen being that she seen me pet another puppy one day and from one jump on the screen she put three holes in it. I suggest it to anyone that has a dog that jumps on the door, if my Jade hasn't been able to rip it it must be pretty tough.
