beausmom- I would definatley say better to be safe than sorry. It only takes a few seconds to take off their collars, but I cant imagine coming home to find....ohh I can't even write the words! I admit I am guilty of forgetting to do this as well, but I will for sure make more of an effort now.

Naked boxers are safer...and way cute!
Gus is now naked inside all the time, it's just as easy because we use a "snap collar"...I think I'm calling it the wrong name, but you just snap both sides into each other instead of buckeling it. I have learned so much about taking care of my fur children on this website and dh & I are forever grateful (even though he thinks I'm a little obsessive sometimes
)! We have never had a problem with any previous dogs and wearing collars all the time; why take the chance though? Now we just leave the leash attached to the collar and snap his collar on instead of the leash to his collar when we go outside. And he's precious naked :D
Another thing I learned on this site that I never would have considered was to unplug our paper shredder because someone's baby's tongue got shredded!!! Like I said, this is an invaluable resource!!

It's truly amazing the things that happen that you never ever thought to be a problem; I've been freaking out after reading this thread and the ones linked to it, mental note to self, remove Justice's collar. I mean that's why they have the "don't use hair dryer while sleeping" warning, you know someone was cold one night, didn't have a heating blanket and fell asleep with it on. Good intentions don't always prevent accidents.
Justice gets a Kong every morning filled with peanut butter and biscuits and her Kong football with the biscuits WEDGED in tight (that one is more for entertainment and the other for treat admin, since she hardly ever really gets the stuff out of the football).

The only problem I have is that if I do not let Beau out IMMEDIATELY, he will pee everywhere. I have to put his leash on him while he's still in the crate or he makes a big puddle. What can I do?

beausmom You could also get one of those leads that you just loop and fit over the dogs head. I think they are called slip leads. Not sure. That way you can just slip it over his head and not have to put a collar on. Just another idea.
I know my parents could have lost their chihuahua if I hadn't found him in time. They had left his collar on while in his crate. He didn't get it caught on the crate, but part of his blanket that was in there with him. It had a string from the blanket that the collar was caught on. The more he pulled more string came out that just kept getting more caught around his neck and almost choked him to death. So now not only does he go naked they check his blankets for any loose string or getting frayed. He was one lucky chi.

Hailey is quite the escape artist as well. Two things worked for her--being crated with Jasmine and instead of one clip I've got 3 clips. As a matter of fact, I had one of the large green plastic crate that lasted all of about 2 days. I've had my heavy duty metal crate for about 8 months and I guess because she has too much time on her hands she had pulled the metal bars into the crate (I'm quite suprised she didn't escape that day or get stabbed.) I've now replaced the metal crate again. I'm hoping this one will last more than 8 months.

I wasnt able to get to the computer this weekend but the padlock didnt work- Koda pushed open the top of the metal crate only about 6n inches and got out- she is 60 lbs!!!!! I am scared to death that she may choke herself trying to get out but she cant have full run of the house. I think I am going to buy a few more padlocks and cable ties and secure it down thanks for the advice but this little houdini of mine needs to stop
