Sam S
Boxer Booster
We got Eric when he was 9 months old, after a brief show career. The breeder we got him from was the same one we got Ali from and said that she had decided not to show dogs anymore and wanted Eric to go to a good home as he was such a lovely dog. Well he was better than lovely, he was warm, loyal, friendly, smoochie and a wonderful dog all round!
The first night we has Eric both Ali and Eric were so excited to be together that Matt and I slept on the floor with them to keep them settled, needless to say not much sleep was had that night!
Eric had some funny traits (like all boxers!) he had an obsession with the lemon tree, picking every lemon he could reach and trying to find the sweet one and he was obsessed with balls his favorite was a flat basketball, but any ball would have his attention for hours!
Eric still looked like he was in show condition even 6 months ago, but then things sadly took a turn for the worse.
Eric had some growths in his mouth (not uncommon for a boxer) and it was making eating quite difficult so we decided to have these growths removed.
Eric was such a favorite a the vets, the girls would always come over to Eric for a cuddle even when there were 3 or 4 other dogs in the waiting area .. he just managed to win hearts!
Everything was fine for a week or so with Eric recovering from the procedure, but all of a sudden he went down hill quickly, the growth came back much more aggressively and was bleeding and making him extremely uncomfortable, so after a few more trips back to the vet and trying pain killers Eric stopped eating, we then made the terribly difficult decision to say goodbye to him.
We will miss your goofy ways Eric and hope that at Rainbow bridge there is a big lemon tree and plenty of balls for you to play with.
Thank you for being our special boy.
