I hope someone can help me. Sadi (5 years old) went for surgery for entroprion on her eyes. Her pupil was up in her head. The vet did another surgery on both eyes last tues. Now her pupil is all the way up and she's blind. her stitches won't come out until next fri.
is this normal?
thanks, sheralyn

Entropian surgery should be performed by a registered Animal Opthamologist.
I am not sure what has happened to you dogs eyes and if that is normal or not.

Is she under a specialist?
What is their opinion?

I'm sorry to hear about Sadi! My boxer, Finn, has surgery to fix his entropian in the Summer of 2002. It was his bottom lids that were rolling in, and the surgery went well without any problems (except for him having to wear the "lamp shade" for 2 weeks while the stiches were in...not fun for either of us!).

The surgery was done by our regular vet, and she mentioned nothing about potential risk of blindness. Did your vet forewarn you of this? I had done some research before the surgery and never saw anything about the pupils going up into the head. I would try and get more information from your vet (or possibly another one).

Keep us posted with Sadi's condition.

Eye entropion is a common problem in Bullies, and I have seen several post surgicals. I have never seen or heard of this corrective surgery causing blindness.

I hope everything turns out for the better for you and Sadi! Keep us posted!
