Elmo might have HD

We took Elmo to the Vet because lately he has been limping at the end of the day. The Vet suggested we have his hips xrayed and that it could be Hip Dysplasia. So this Friday, Elmo has an appointment to be anesthesized and xrayed. He's only 10 months old.:( I'm hoping it's muscular and not HD. Poor Elmo.

My good wishes go out to Elmo. The x-rays will tell you 100% for sure if he has HD or not. If he does, I would suggest contacting his breeder immediately and discussing it with them.

How did Elmo's vet appointment go? Let us know how the xrays went. Poor baby, we hope he's ok. :(

Thank you Jan, for your concern. The Vet's Office changed our appointment to the 16th because the doctor who does the xrays will not be in until then. Apparently he is an orthopedic specialist whereas our regular vet is not. He only comes on designated days. The wait to find out is awful. I was very dissapointed.

I've had no experience with the problem, fortunately, but if Dr. Belfield is correct, it seems to be treatable, and perhaps even corrected.

I read the article and it made me feel a little more comfortable with the fact that Elmo may have HD. Hopefully he doesn't but if he does we will be able to deal with it.
