Eating weeds

Not really sure if this is the right spot to put this, sorry if it isn't.
We adopted our girl a few weeks ago, they said she is between 1 & 2 white boxer. Every time we go out for a walk or if she is in the yard she eats weeds. it's nice because that is less we have to pick but I don't want it to hurt her. She doesn't throw up from it, gags sometimes but that's it. I know she was a stray so I was thinking maybe that it is just a habit from roaming around. What do you guys think?

I don't know if there's a difference between dogs eating weeds or grass. But I've read that if dogs eat grass, they could have an upset stomach. It induces vomiting to make their tummies feel better.

or.... your baby could be tasting the weeds for sensory information similar to sniffing! Smell and taste goes hand in hand sometimes! It could be a habit! ;) I don't fully know the answer here... but maybe these ideas will help! Good Luck!

I would want to make sure that the weeks aren't poisonous. Buttercups for instance are poisonous. :(

Thanks, I will look into that. She hasn't been getting sick, I will ask the vet though when I take her Thursday.
Thanks again!!!

I've heard the same thing about eating weeds. Rocky eats them (and grass) alot. I asked the Vet about it. She told me they do it sometimes when their tummies are upset and that the "juices" in the grass help them with digestion.

She also told me it could be just boredom. I don't see how though...that boy has more toys than my 3 yr old!

I wouldn't worry about it. These silly dogs eat just about anything. Joe has eaten grass, weeds, small shrubs, a JC Pennys flyer, part of a phone book, a dog bed, parts of the wall of the house, tennisballs, hotdogs scarfed off the counter, plastic, a couple of socks, and numerous other small items with no ill effects.
I wouldn't worry too much.

MOJO does the same thing. It made me nervous at first but he hasnt had any problems. It makes me feel guilty sometimes having weeds in the lawn but he comes to my rescue and gets rid of them for me. Who knew boxers are gardners too!!!

Mine will eat anything they can get too. We are constantly puppy-proofing the house. Turk eats grass every day and chews on every stick he can find. Our vet said that it is fine as long as he doesn't get into anything poisonus. The only problems so far and the itchies he gets from running in the fields.

Daisy has eaten grass and weeds from the start. At first I thought her stomach must be upset and she's trying to calm it down. Now I think she must just like the taste. It seems she's always munching on something.

My Daisy will eat weeds and grass. She also likes to attack my raspberry bushes. Does anyone know if the raspberry bushes are ok to eat? She will try to eat both the leaves and the berries. I think she goes after the leaves because the wind is blowing them. Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks
