Eating the House

Help - my 15 month old female boxer is eating the house. She has chewed woodwork, window ledges and some furniture. She gets plenty of attention and exercies and always has access to chew toys.

I am almost at the end of my rope.

Does she do this when you are home? We are back to crateing our 1.5yr old female. She was doing fine home alone then started tearing things up again. I would suggest using the crate then start letting her our short periods of time to see how she does. Lexi gets plenty of exercise also but when they are home alone they seem to find trouble.

I have a 7 month old male puppy who loves to tear up his stuff animals and chew up his compressed bones...But Knock on wood he has n e v e r chewed up anything of ours. He is crated when he is not supervised. I have been allowing him to sleep outside his crate in my bedroom with my door closed. And on the weekends in the basement with me in the basement on an air mattress. As time goes on I will test him with alittle more freedom. I am not a neat freak and there are plently of items he could get in trouble with i.e. shoes, small trash cans etc. but he seems to know what are his things and he demolishes them...

Belle also has a wood ' fetish'. Her favourite pastime is chewing the bannister! She has also been known to rip heads off Barbie dolls and the odd school book. She has stopped this since we bought her a toy that you stuff with treats, it keeps her good for ages.

Many people on the boards would recommend a crate so it maybe worth trying one of those. We haven't used one for Belle as I would feel mean letting Tess have her freedom and Belle not but they're supposed to be very good and at least you'll know your house hasn't been eaten whilst you're out.:(

I downloaded a free version of...

Pro Paint 7. I later bought a copy after the trial period was over. It is a very easy program to work on avitars. Lord knows prior to becoming a Boxerworld member, I didn't even know what an avitar was. :eek::D

Rowdy likes to chew wood. My storage building is evidence of that. Rowdy has given up on eating my storage building and started dragging firewood all over my yard. Maybe you can get your dog some firewood for a "chew toy".
