Eating soap

Kracker has recently started eating soap. I know it's not good for her, are there any reasons that she would be eating soap? She will do anything she can to get a hold of it. I don't know if she just likes the taste or if it's a deficiency of some sort.

My babes like eating soap as well. They don't have a deficiency. Quick fix: buy a shower caddy and put the soap in that. Make sure not to leave it by the side of the tub.

My jasmine got a bar of soap once and was pretty sick for a day or two. Luckily she hasn't gotten anymore since. Common boxer issue from talking to people...I think its mostly the better soaps too. I think its something in the fragrancing (spelling- sorry) of the soaps that makes them apealing but I am not sure. There is no easy fix just try and keep them away from the soaps.

Soap and candles are the two luxury's here....LOL...(also dryer sheets)....i just have to be careful where we put all of the three or i have stuff all over the living room and worry about them getting sick!! Telmar just ate a candle within two min....I suppose they smell good!! Who knows?

Delilah got a hold of my intuition razor, the kind with the "soap/shaving cream" all around the blades. She was licking that when i found her, luckily she didn't cut her tongue, that would have been awful!

sashamom - I definately have the same problem with the dryer sheets.

Goodgirl - when Jasmine was younger she got my razor, toothbrush etc also.

Cassius was a soap eater... the only good thing that came from it was that he had "Irish Spring" breath! He and Nikki have also eaten a few decorative candles, and yes, dryer sheets must be promply disposed of, or they will also be eaten. Quite the appitite they have.. :rolleyes:

One of my cats did this when i was a kid. All that I can remember was that it was for something in the soap. The vet told us to use glycerin soap instead and this helped. The cats nose was deteriorating from having soap on it all of the time. It was really wierd.

Willis has very clean insides: he LOVES soap and/or any toiletry. I don't know if the smell appeals to him or he thinks it tastes good, but I have to keep all things like that well out of his reach. He's never gotten enough to get sick though...
