Hey everyone,
Masey (6months old) has recently started eating grass for no reason. I know that dogs eat grass when they have an upset stomach but she doesn't seem to be sick or anything. She will ring the bell to go outside and will be out there for 30 minutes doing her business and eating grass. I just wanted some opinions on what could be going on.

Thanks in advance! :)

Dempsey has a stomach virus (which we found out after 2 hours at the vets yesterday--xrays and all). When I mentioned that he is eating grass like crazy she said "oh, poor baby is nauseous". So, maybe he isn't getting sick...but still has an unsettled tummy. Poor baby!

I hope everyone feels better soon!! Splash woke up out of a dead sleep one night gagging, I brought him out and he ate some grass then came back in and was fine. I think the grass settled his tummy.

I find that a little nibbling is just enjoying spring grass-all my boxers "graze" but when it is kind of "can't get enough of it" chomping that is a sign of an upset tummy. Hope everyone feels better soon :)

If she is out there just chowing down on it, I would think she has an upset tummy.
Brady only eats it when his belly isn't well but Abbie on the other hand, I think she eats more grass than food

The biggest challenge when walking ABbie is she pulls, only to get to the side of the road to the grass. Then she opens her mouth and runs back and forth in the grass, maybe she like sthe feel of it rubbing against her face. Every few seconds she will close her mouth and rip out a mouth full of grass and eat some but spit most of it out. SHe doesn't have an updet belly, just a weird fetish.

Chief, "knock on wood", has never had an upset stomach (unbelievable... I know). However, Sam often will go out and graze.... he only does this when he has an upset stomach (but sometimes it isn't so evident!) Does he seem kind of mopey when he does this?? That's how we know Sam doesn't feel good. :(

I absolutely agree! Trooper "grazes" like a goat:) I never understood why. But I dont think it will hurt. Worse that will happen is they will hack it back up or make some great fertilizer for your lawn:)

Or, like my last sweet girl, they get what I call "hangers". She would poop and need "asssitence" as she could not poop all the grass out  She would stand there squatting looking at me as if to say "Get it out for me Mama!!" The things we do for these dogs :)

At my house, grass is a treat! They love it after DH mows the lawn because they don't even have to graze, just pick up the trimmings! In my case it has nothing to do with an upset tummy - they eat it because they like it! Since we don't use any chemicals I just let them go, there have been no ill effects except a green tint to the poo!

Lisa is exactly the same or she will drag her bum along the grass trying to clean it, which is a funny sight.
