I have a question about Layla's ears.....hers look a lot smaller than all the puppies on here......is that normal? All the puppies on this site has big floppy ears, and hers are little bitty! She is only 5 weeks old, and I only have pics of her here when she was about 3 weeks old. Are her ears normal?

My baby's ears came to me already cropped, but from the way they were done I imagne that she didn't have big floppy ears, cropped they are short not tall like the ones I have seen in books and magazines. I think its normal.

Your baby is soo small and cute.

Scrapper's ears weren't that big either before they were cropped. The vet told me he had small ears. No big deal, just Mother Nature's diversity! :)

When we got bella her ears were cropped as well...The breeder we purchased her from was going to show her, but Bella stopped growing at 6months...From my understanding, to show they must meet a minimum height/weight requirement...is this true..? she is roughly 45-50lbs...

my wife and I have agreed that when we get another boxer, probably when Bella is two or three, we will not crop the ears...we got bella when she was seven months old...we would like to get our next boxer when she is a puppy...We have been told that puppies can be easier to train/work with when they have an older brother/sister to follow...

Take a look at the pics of Bella at the url below...

Bella is beautiful!! Yes they must be a certain height and weight to show. Yes, my boyfriend has a male boxer who is 4, and they got his ears cropped when he was little, btu I don't want to get Layla's done, just because she is a girl.......if we got another boy, we would get his ears done.......I just think girls look more feminine with natural ears!! I just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with my baby!!

Your puppy will only be 6 weeks old (if i'm reading your posts correctly). Puppies should stay with their mom's/littermates at least until they are 8 weeks old, preferably 9-10 weeks. If the breeder is allowing you to take the pup prior to 8 weeks, I would really start looking at the *type* of breeder you are dealing with. Hopefully, you have screened this breeder and ask the appropriate questions.

Boxers’ ears seem to grow independently from their bodies. When she was really young, Xena had little ears like Layla, then a few weeks later, they turned into these :)
She’s now 1½ and her ears fit her perfectly :)
