Boxer Pal
Hello,

We are currenlty feeding our boxer pup dry Eagle Pack Puppy Food. She is 5 months old and we are getting ready to switch to adult food.

She seems to really like Eagle Pack so we want to stick with this brand. HOwever, there are so many different varieties of Eagle Pack adult foods. There is Maintenance 23/12, Original Adult 25/15, Power Formula Dry 30/20, Reduced Fat 18/8 and then the 'Hollistic Select' brands such as Lamb and Rice, Chicken and Duck and Oatmeal.

My first question is what is the difference between the 'regular' Eagle Pack dry food from the 'Hollistic Select' dry food?

Within the 'regular' group, what is the difference between those?

Within the 'hollistic' select group, is the difference in 'flavors' merely personal preference or does one flavor have a distinct advantage over another?

I realize this is a lot of questions but I just want to make sure I get the appropriate food for our girl.

Thanks for the advice!!!

Wow - lots of questions :)

In my opinion, I would only feed the Holistic line. I do not get as excited about their "regular" line. Before I get further along, I want to point you to THIS page that Gwyneth put together, which has a lot of great information on choosing a good kibble.

That being said, here are the top ingredients for Eagle Pack Holistic:

Chicken Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Natural Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Whole Ground Barley, Anchovy & Sardine Meal, Pork Meal, Dried Beet Pulp, Oatmeal, Tomato Pomace, Dried Egg Product, Flaxseed, Canola Oil, Dried Apples, Cheese Meal, Dried Carrots, Air Dried Peas, Sun-cured Alfalfa, Salt.

By contrast, here are the top ingredients to Eagle Pack "Adult" Formula:

Pork Meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Meal, Oatmeal, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Natural Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Dried Beet Pulp, Anchovy & Sardine Meal, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Egg Product, Flaxseed, Salt.

Simply put, I do not like the fact that they use ground yellow corn as their second ingredient.

Hope this helps :)

Boxer Insane
We've been feeding EP Holistic since Oskar was a pup. Like Courtney I like the holistic better than the regular b/c of the corn. We mix the Holistic Chicken and the holistic Anchovie, Sardine, and Salmon. Oskar has done great on it.
