Hi, unfortunately we got some bad news a few days ago.

We took Jazz to a specialist to find out exactly what the problem is with her front legs as she's been limping on and off both for a while now. After having a CT scan and arthroscopy (just to make sure nothing else was causing it) Jazz has been found to have elbow dysplasia.

I really wasn't expecting this as apparently its not common in Boxers. I was just wondering what other peoples experiences are with dysplasia and how it was treated over the years as she is only just 2 years old.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

How she is doing? and how you are holding up?
Sending a lot of ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~feeling better~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~wishes,

Thank you for asking after Jazz, she's doing ok, limping a bit less with the help of some painkillers. She's on room rest for 2 weeks, she thinks she's done something wrong because we can't let her play or anything so she's being spoilt instead with lots of cuddles and of course the sofa belongs to her now (can't resist those big brown eyes). I am missing all the fun we had watching her play though, so it's hard not just for her.

We're going for a check up in a couple of weeks time so hopefully then we'll find out a bit more about elbow dysplasia (anyone know of where else I can get more info?). I know she can't be cured completely but we're going to try to stop it from getting worse so that's the way I'm looking at it.

Hip Dysplasia

Sorry about your dog having elbow Dysplasia. My little girl was diagnosed with hip Dysplasia in January. She was only 11 mos old. She fell last Christmas and I thought she was limping b/c of that, but after the x-rays it was clear to the vet that she was born with it. She told me that it will get worse over time, but glucosimne (sp?) pills will help, and they have. Roxy still limps at night and after long walks. Other than that, she is fine and will hopefully live a long and healthy life.

Thanks for all the information, it's been interesting learning about dysplasia.

Jazz is going through a bit of a run of bad luck at the moment, she's somehow managed to get gastroenteritis from somewhere, even though she's hardly been anywhere and if she has it's been on a lead for a very short time as she's now allowed a 5 minute walk. So now she's at the vets on a drip for the night, poor little girl. Hopefully I'll have her back tomorrow.
