Dutch's Spots

Hello all,
My male boxer, Dutch, has developed what seem to be dark spots around his hips. It appeared to be dirt so we gave him a bath, but that didn't help. It's very odd, he isn't a dirty dog and is really quite picky about things like that. These spots that have appeared aren't raised or below the skin in any way (no scabs, lesions, bumps, etc). The best way I can describe it is that it appears that he has leopard spots around his hips. Has anyone encountered such a problem or heard of such a thing?

I'm sure others will chime in but Pearl seems to get more spots all the time. I swear when I got her she didn't have any and now she's covered!

I am not sure how quickly they appeared, but white skinned and light skinned boxers get alot of spots as they get older. Our last boxer (white) became quite spotted by the time she died, but when she was a year old, she was pure white.

The other possibility that I am aware of is that they are skin cancer or similar. I think this is more the rarer situation, but boxers do get skin cancer.

If you are really concerned, maybe a vet check will put your mind at ease.

I've been keeping a close eye on him lately and as for the cancer, I sure hope not, and a vet check is sounding better and better. However, the spots do not bother him at all. I really examined him last night and I thought maybe his hair was coming out. As for the hair falling out, I was unable to come to a decision because if it is it is falling out slowly. He does have dark skin below his khaki exterior. This may be why the spots appear darker (if his hair is falling out).
