Droopy Eyes

Hello! I'm not sure if this is a health issue or not. Oscar has an eye lid that looks like it might become droopy. I've seen many pictures of boxers (calendars, magazines, photos, etc.) with droopy eyes. Right now, the droop is very slight and shows up most when it's nap time or bed time. Is this anything to worry about? If so, what should I watch for? I'm thinking it probably isn't a huge issue since I've seen so many pictures of droopy-eyed boxers. Just thought I'd check.

Thanks for your help!

Memphis gets drooping eye syndrom when she'd tired also...I figure its like people get bags under their eyes and boxer eyes become "baggy" I don't know of the any health issues associated with it because I've seen calendars where there eyes are like that also. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to bother the dog or looks irritated from something.

My Roxee also experiences droopy eyes sometimes, but not necessarily when she is tired. It looks like it isn't normal, but from what I've read, it is one of their traits.

My little Giguere has droopy eyes also. They get really droopy and red at bedtime when he's tired. He looks like a bloodhound.
LOL! My other boxer doesn't have this problem at all. I'm curious if this syndrome is found more in the flashy fawns (that's what my Giguere is). My female Kianna is a black-faced fawn.

All the others that have written on this subject . . . are your boxers with the droopy eyes also flashy fawns?

I think it is fairly normal but I've heard of people having surgery to have it corrected.

Roxee is a flashy fawn. I wouldn't have surgery to correct the droopiness, unless it posed a health problem.

Memphis is a flashy fawn, but I agree with lincan that I would not let her go under unless is posed a health issue.

Okay, so far all the droopy eyes are flashy fawns. Anybody out there with a black-face, brindle or white boxer with droopy eyes?Again, just curious. I wouldn't have my guys eyes fixed either. Makes him sort of cute in a sad looking sort of way.

Also flashy brindle!

Sorry! My 3 month old Shayna is also flashy brindle with very droopy eyes all the time! Not just when she's tired. I think it makes her look so cute. Others say she looks sad. But I do know it is one of their traits. Her eyes water a lillte more than my male fawn's. But it poses no health problem and she does not care so why should you? It adds to her personality! Unless they start to buldge out, it's normal.
