Drooling in kennel?

I think our puppy is drooling in her kennel when we leave. She gets a toy w/ peanut butter in it (rawhide) and no blanket.
There is drool all over!
Is that normal?

If Nestle smells peanut butter, she is sitting in a puddle of drool within seconds (haha). If she is chewing on a rawhide, it is normal that her paws
would be wet as well as the bottom of the crate too.

Is it excessive or just wet?

How old is your puppy?

I know when we got Koda, we put a stuff animal in his crate with him (I didn't want him to be lonely) that thing would be soaked in drool by the time we got home. It was pretty nasty.

Maybe he is just excited about having the treat?

Actually I think it's separation anxiety. Otis used to do this everytime we left him in his crate. He hated it. Everytime we came home...there was a lake in his crate and his paws, chest and chin would be soaking wet!

We actually solved this problem with Otis by getting another puppy. He got company and wasn't alone anymore when we had to leave the house. He's been dry ever since. Also, he's now taken to his crate and actually will go in there to nap or just get away from things.

She was born Oct. 5, so she is 4 1/2 months. There is a lot of drool - I'd say 1/4 cup or so???
The rawhide is soaked and so are her front paws.
When I tell her to "kennel up" and show her the treat - she goes right in.
I was worried before about seperation anxiety, but what else would she do if she had SA...how would I know if it just isn't drooling because of the treat - which she LOVES!

It really does sound like SA. It is very common (at least with boxers), as you will find out from reading this board. This is not just drool for the sake of drool (or a treat), but I think it is a manifestation of from getting all worked up with SA (crying, or barking, or biting the wires, etc.).
My boxer is 2 yrs old and I have had him for over a year now and he still makes a mess while I am away on most days.
There are many ways to treat/deal with/work on SA. I recommend reading through this site, it has a wealth of info. Good luck and remember it just takes time!

Drooling

Hamlet, our boy, is a drooler when he gets alone. It's really probably SA.
At the advice of many great ppl here, I got the DAP dispenser. I put it in the living room, and noticed that Hamlet was sort of "drawn" to it. When it came time to leave him alone, a couple of days later, I put it in the room where he stays (he didn't get to crating, and here between us, neither did I), and there was noticiably less drool. He still messed with the door, and he _still_ drooled, but noticiably less.

Tonight I'll have to leave him alone for some hours too, so I'll be able to check out if there was any further improvement.

Keep in mind, DAP is not a _solution_ for SA, but it is part of an approach. Perhaps it will help you as well.

I have the same problem

Zeus is 1 and has done it ever since day 1 of crate training. He doesn't like his crate very much and I just got told about SA. If I find out more I will let you know.

one way to determine if it is drool from the SA or from the goodies he has in his crate would be to leave him in his crate like normal, but only remove the goodies and see what happens.

Lucy, I am convinced has SA, she will drool, like Putermom said it is all over, she has even started escaping from her crate. I have tried the comfort zone plug in for SA, they say it takes about 4 weeks to work and it has been three and I have noticed no difference. What is DAP?
