Hi all!
So we are driving to Canada in a few weeks to go camping. This will be Barkley's first time over the border so I was wondering about what I need to do in preparation for crossing out of, and back into the country. I think maybe some of his records need to be signed by the vet, I'm calling them tomorrow... But is there anything I need to know before we show up at the border with Barkley?
Any Boxer friends from up North have any advice for us?

Thanks a bunch!

When we go into the states they just ask for the rabies certificate, some do some don't.. But to be safe I always bring their papers & shot records..Have a good vacation..

I don't know exactly what the pup will need but make sure you have the following for yourself and any other humans entering Canada

Entry: A photo ID (such as a passport) is required to enter Canada, as is proof of US citizenship (passport, birth certificate, or naturalization certificate). Visas are not required.

Have a great trip :)

My parents take their mini daschund to canada every summer ( they are there right now as a matter of fact lol). All they take is up to date shot records and vet records. Enjoy your trip!

When we went two years ago to Canada, we only needed your drivers license. We didn't need a birth certificate or anything. That may have changed now, I don't know. The dogs would need health records and proof of rabies shots. Maybe you could call where your staying and ask them any for any info.

Yes this has changed. My ex DH was from Canada and I would visit him frequently before he moved down here. Way back when a drivers license was all you needed, now you need proof of citizenship and they prefer a birth certificate or passport. Depends on the day - but one of the guards in a bad mood won't let you pass without proof!

If you don't have a passport a birth certificate as well as a photo ID is required for all passengers over 14.
As far as the dog you will need all shot and vaccine records. Usually they only look at the rabies cert. but a BP in a bad mood can make you more trouble. Also its better to keep the dogs food in a clear tupperware container, they still search about 1 in 5 cars randomly and they won't think twice about dumping out a 30lb bag of food to look in it before they comb through it with there fingers.
