Drinking to much water = being sick.

Does anyone have this problem with their dog.
My boy Murphy is 2 1/2 and just lately has started being sick after drinking alot of water,usually after coming home from a long walk.(5 times in past week)
He has always drank a lot and it has never happened before.

Any thoughts??

Well, I wouldn't say it's unusual at all, many dogs do throw up if they drink too much too fast after exercising - the only slightly unusual thing here is that it has started suddenly.

One way around the problem is to limit the amount of water in his bowl - so he can't drink too much. Let him have a small drink when you get home from a walk, then refill his bowl half an hour later. Since he'll have cooled down by then, he may not even take a second drink, but either way he won't be able to drink an excessive amount in one go.

Buster does this when he drinks too much - whether is he is hot and excited or not. I call it the "water puke"...... I count his gulps and when he gets to number 4, I tell him to slow down. This works well for me - now he only does it when he sneaks in there and I don't hear him...
