Harvey almost 5 year old boxer male, seems to be drinking an awful lot more water than he used to.... we don't live in a hot climate. So i don't think it is temperature related.

For something like that, you really should visit a vet. Drinking a lot of water like that can be a sign of kidney problems, or even thyroid problems (to which boxers are somewhat prone). Most especially since it is something that has occured quite suddenly, I really think you need to get him along to a vet and see if there is something serious going on with your boy.

It could be a number of things. Definitely talk to the vet if it's unusual for you pet. It could be thryoid or it could be Polydipsia/Polyuria...which basically is frequent drinking and urinating. It's best to have it checked out right away. My boxer drinks frequently and most of the time it's when her thyroid is out of line. Hope this helps and good luck!

Same Problem

Our 5-6 year old (not exactly sure how old he is) started doing this a few months ago. We've taken him to the vet twice over the few months and they checked everything from diabetes to thyroid to kidney and they have found nothing wrong. We are taking him again this weekend and insist that something is wrong. I'll look up Polydipsia/Polyuria as I have never heard of that before and maybe we'll ask the vet to look for that or test for it.

I just found this site btw. We have a white boxer - Rocky and a pug - Lily as well. They are quite a pair!
