Drainage from eyes

Does anyones boxer's eyes drain alot? Rossi seems to almost always have a little bit of drainage from her eyes. She gets it more when it's really cold out. She also has sizeable eye bugers in the mornings or after long naps. I always wipe them clean for her, but I want to know if this is normal with boxers or not. It's not so bad that she has crusted over eyes or anything, but they say when selecting a puppy from a litter, never to pick one with any thing coming out of its eyes. The vet has looked at them alot and thinks its fine because her eyes are really clear. Is there reason for concern??

Thanks.

I don't know if it is commen or not, but my boxer's eyes run often as well. I'm always wiping them. He has gotten a yeast infection (in a wrinkle) once because of all the drainage.

So is this commen in boxers??

Ours, too.

Our babies have runny eyes, too. Usually just a little wet under the inside corner of both eyes for our one year-old, and both have serious eye boogers when they wake up from a long nap!

Our vet doesn't seem concerned with it - I am interested in hearing whether it is 'normal'.

I'm not sure I'm the expert on "what's normal" but every boxer I've ever seen has had eye boogies. When I switched my two from commercial food to human-grade food the amount of eye-boogies went down considerably (usually only in the morning or after a long nap). My younger boxer has really droopy eyes, so he has "tears" pretty much all day...that just drop from his eyes. And our vet said it's b/c his eyelids are so droopy. I do know that if the drainage changes colors (like a strong yellow or greenish color) that that usually means there is an infection. Hope this helps!

Crash has had runny eyes since we brought him home. His vet said it wasn't a big deal. It's a bummer because his pretty little white face has tear stains.

My Ali has runny eyes too. Well, not so much runny as gook. She also has what seems like a lazy eye. It droops when she is tired and looks red. After her nap it is perfect again. Is that something boxers have?

I have the same problem with Chloe & since she's white it shows up more than on darker coats. Chloe's eyes seem to run all the time but the cause of her's is conjuctivitis. It's something like allergies & I have to give her eye drops twice a day for it, she's had it since I brought her home. The vet said it's not a problem though.

Eye boogies

Natas has them VERY bad in the mornings when he wakes up. I asked the vet about them and he gave us some stuff to put in his eyes before he goes to bed. I wipe them every morning with a warm washcloth and he doesn't seem to mind. I can say that his eyeball is white and his tear ducts are red, I have switched to human grade puppy food and think this will help. He was eating puppy chow with lots of fillers.

Ozzy had that problem too, just changing his food took away the stains and runny eyes, if the eyes run you should wipe his face where the folds are. I would check out the food.
