What was I thinking before we had two?

Now that we have two Boxers, I just cannot remember what it was like to have one! I can't imagine life without Eva. She is the most precious addition to our family that I could ever ask for, and I am so happy with two.

I just thought I would share the joy I've been experiencing with double the Boxer Love in my house... what a wonderful blessing.

Funny you posted that, because I was just thinking about posting something similar, yet quite oppossite. Something, like, "Double the Trouble?!!!"

I posted earlier that we are thinking about getting a 2nd Boxer soon. I really want a play mate for our boy, who is almost 2 years old now. We are seriously considering going to a rescue this weekend with our boy and seeing what they have. Completely prepared for the fact that we may be coming home with one and ... then the reality check came. What would that REALLY be like?!

My thoughts were, double the poop, double the chewed up stuff. Double the food costs, vet costs, toy costs, training costs. Double the chaos.

However, it's obvious you are thrilled with your choice. Tell me more about what it's like having two boxers around instead of one. Sometimes I like the thought of keeping it simple with just one. One to take bye bye in the car. One to take for walks. One to feed and clean up after. One to give a bone to and not worry about a dog fight over it. Yet, I know he would SO love to have a buddy to play with and keep him company. We are home quite a lot, but I feel bad when we are gone for several hours and he's by himself. On the other hand, I wonder what my house would look like after coming home to two boxers playing in it while I was gone! I don't want to have to put them in a crate every time I leave. Kronk rarely goes in his anymore.

Okay, so I'm just rambling now. I'd love to hear more about your "two boxers".

We were soooo worried about getting a second. What if..... Well Cairo has been the best thing for Cleopatra. She is better behaved, She must know she is the role model. They play and sleep together. When we are at work they lay in their crates right next to each other. The other day I had put Cairo out so Cleo could eat in privacy. She was not feeling well. She would not leave the door because her brother was outside and she was in. I could not imagine our home without two boxers. I do not think I'll get a third however Haha.

I love having two boxers but it is double everything, especially the work. I had read on here to wait until one dog was a little older than the other but when we had the chance to get the second one it ended up she was only one month younger. Things have been really crazy. We are going on our second month with two now (10 months old and 9 months). When my husband takes one down stairs and I will have the other up stairs things are very calm and better than when it was just one. They seem more content, but as soon as you put them back together it is total madness in our house again. They rip and tear the entire time. I hope it's the "teenage" stage and things will calm down a bit. They have just LOVED each other since we introduced them which I love to see. I have to say that even with all of the crazyness I wouldn't trade them for anything. It's double the love too!

i absolutly adore both of my boxers just watching them play and having both of them rush me when i get home is definetly worth all the extra work and once you get them both trained its not even that bad!

fOR JIFFER: I actually think that it is substantially easier with two than it was with one...in so many ways! Of course, there is twice the expense with food and vet bills, and twice the poop to scoop, but honestly, as far as a down side, that's it. As long as they're trained properly (which, I'll admit, does take some effort!) you shouldn't have any food aggression issues or at least not real "fights". Ours squabble over toys (why I even bother to buy two of anything, I'll never figure out), but even that can be quashed by a "leave it" command once I've had my fill of listening to it. I don't feel guilty when we have to leave them for a bit, because they have each other. Even when we are home, they're less work because they play with each other as often as they want to play with or get attention from us. They can run in the yard and chase each other and wrestle together and do all of the things that dogs are hereditarily predisposed to do, in their little "pack" of two. I seriously wouldn't have it any other way, and that's just as it regards their well being and not even getting started on how great it is for us in the way of double the love, double the greetings, and exponentially increased entertainment value! They are an absolute RIOT to watch together. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed by an addition to the family.

That is true but so worth it!!!!!!

I love my two and wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

I met some people that had to get another one so they could have some time to themselves their boxer would never leave them alone!!!

I agree, I have always thought it 's easier with two. I couldn't have it any other way.
