I agree with the others in that your pup is telling you when he needs to go outside by sitting there. Buster used to do the same thing...he'd sit there but not vocalize anything. Trust me...you'll be glad you don't have a dog that barks for anything and everything either! It can be frustrating if you're not in the room to see him. Great suggestion repeated on here is the bell so that he can learn to touch that with his nose or paw. Good luck.

I have one that vocalizes his need to go potty (he does a low whine and makes a frog face) and one that doesn't. At least yours sits by the door. My girl Marlee just stares at me. But that's her signal that she needs anything from a belly rub, to more water, to going out, to "please can I have a treat?" So at least you know what he wants!
