Door Opening!

Yep, Brighid not only opens doors but gates as well. We have to keep locks on all the gates. She even figured out how to open a big wrought iron rolling gate that went across the driveway. She would jump up and hit it until it would shake, then as it was shaking she would put her nose in and push it open.

They are very intelligent dogs. It's amazing what they can do when they put their minds to it.

They are so sneaky sometimes!

Casper can open a sliding glass door to the delight of Sumi and their "cousin", Chewy. They all get put outside for dinner at my mom's house and Casper lets them all back in!

He also one time tried to lock Sumi in his kennel when he was mad at her for stealing his toys. He would fetch and retrieve them so nice and then she kept going and standing where it was being thrown and making him chase her to get them back (she likes to be chased). So eventually somehow one of the balls rolled into his crate, and Casper walked up behind her and slammed the door to the crate closed, then he sighed and looked at me as if to say "She's being bad, aren't ya gonna put her in the jail now?" :p

Thought I had seen it all!!!

I thought in our 11 years as Boxer parents we had seen and heard it all...but thank goodness ours never learned to open doors! This is just toooo cool!!! Maybe it's because we have a doggie door and they can come and go as they please (in the fenced in yard of course!)
However, I do remember coming home one day and discovering they had learned to open the cupboard door...YES the one where the 10lb box of MILK BONES was kept!!! (you know the huge box you buy at those wholesale clubs!!!) I found the cupboard door wide open and the entire box of bones was gone!!! I simply followed the trail of crumbs to the back door and on outside where I found the HUGE box not only empty but still WET where it had been licked clean!!!! Now how did they get that big ol box through the little doggie door!!! Where there's a will there's a way...Luckily the box was about half empty....but needless to say neither one of them cared to eat their supper that night!!! djk

Yes, yes, my little boy Casper is a clever one too!!!
I got him at two and a half months. And what a pleasure he has brotten to our family.
He has always been crated when there was nobody home. About two months later when Casper was around 4 - 5 months, I came home to a shocking surpise, Casper was out of his crate and roaming the house freely. I thought that maybe I closed the crate wrong, or somebody else opened it for him and forgot to close it. But this happened for a week!!! I did not mind it at first I thought it was even cute that Casper was roaming around freely, and nobody could figure it out, because even I have problems opening up the crate.
But one horrible day I came home to a not very pleasant environment. The chairs were knocked over, the pillows were all ripped up, the blankets were chewed on, the sofa was ripped, the speakers were torn, and the window curtains were ripped off. I honestly thought that I was robbed at first, and the robber vandalized the house.
But then I saw little Casper with a piece of pillow stuck in his mouth and his tail wagging with complete joy. AHHHHHHHHHHH
So after cleaning up the house (only about four hours)
I locked Casper in his crate, and observed him from the outside backyard window. And ofcourse he can easily open up his crate by using his paws and mouth it only takes about five seconds!!!
Fortunitally this happened on a friday so I got the whole weekend to figure out what to do with the crate.
And the answer... I put a pad look on the crate.
So unless Casper figures out the combination I am safe for now
