Don't want to let him go....

I lost my girl this past Sunday from a stroke. Zoe was only 6. She went with me holding her and she didn't suffer. It is so hard to let them go. I was fortunate in that I didn't have to make the decision, the good lord did. Boxers are more then dogs and they are such a big part of the family. They are teachers, confidants, comedians, and all the other things that are good in life. They have unconditional love for those that are lucky enough to be a part of their life. When the time comes you will know. Your dog will let you know when he has become tired from the fight. Take care and be strong, he has always been their for you and now he will need you to help him.

Im so sorry, its a tough decision. We just put down my boxer cause of cancer. We were holding on as long as we can, but we finally decided it was time. Be strong and he knows what kinda life you gave him, so no regrets on his part, trust me. Good luck!!!

I am so sorry you are facing this heartbreaking decision. We had to do this twice last year. It's hard but there is some comfort in the end, knowing that they are no longer in pain. You will know when it's time. And remember...they never do really leave us.

I'm so moved to read this sad news of your baby. I do pray that you will make the right decision at the right time for the little boy and hope he doesn't suffer too much. Let him go in peace and keep the fond memories. God be with both of you.

I'm sorry to hear about your pup. It hard to let go even when we know it the right thing to do. I had to put my boy down 4 weeks ago due to a brain tumor. He was a great member of our family.He came to my wife aid when she was preg. and feel down the steps. He laid beside her until she got up to her knees. At that point he stood beside her so she could use him as a brace to get up... he didn't leave her side until I got home. When the time came to put him down it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But looking back I'm glad I did it, when I did.

It's never easy to make the call to put down a friend and a family member. In the end you have to do what is best for him. If he could talk he would tell you the same thing. At some point you will be able tell he's no long there, just a shell of what he was. My family will be praying for you.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it so much. Just wanted to give ya'll an update. My baby is still hanging in there. But I can tell the time is getting near. He has good and bad days. Yesterday was a bad day. But today he seems more alert. Some days he won't eat and other days he is hungry. He is still taking his anti-siezure meds. He is not crying so I don't think he is in pain. His vision is getting worse though. I am so glad to have all of you to talk to. No one understands what it is like to have a Boxer in their life unless you have one. It is an amazing experience. I am thankful for the time I have had with my boy. No matter how short it is. I would not trade a second. I will keep everyone informed.
