I second everyone else’s opinion. You really are over reacting. Worms are a little gross but it’s unbelievably common. Also keep in mind that it’s not transmitted all that easily. Although technically it can happen it’s pretty unlikely.

Anyway if you’re that big of a germaphobe you might want to re think having a dog. They do all kinds of gross stuff. At least twice a month I find my female parked in the middle of the yard with a look of horror on her face. When I call her to me and she won’t come I always know what the problem is. She gets what we call “hangers on” which is basically a piece of poop hanging out of her butt that she cant pass because its stuck to a piece of grass, hair, string, or something else she shouldn’t have ingested. She refuses to move until I remove the scary thing that’s “chasing” her. I have to get a paper towel and pull it out of her anus and throw it away. Of course I think its gross but the look on her face is all it takes for me to want to help her. Will you be willing to do the same?

I gotta say I agree with everyone else. Lots of kids do get worms too from not washing hands, playing in sandbox's , biting there nails etc. We worm our kids in the spring and the fall just to be safe. We did this even before we had our puppy. And of corse he is wormed too. Let puppy inside keep good hand washing up and don't worry.

Of course I didn't mean put her down! I thank you all for your opinions, at first I guess I was worried that I was putting my kids at risk. Our lil Izzy stayed out 1 day and night. I couldn't sleep, I kept coming outside to be with her...so she is back in the net morning. The day I wrote this was after she had the meds and they actually started coming out in her poo. I am scared of worms, Love to fish but wont even touch fishing worms...... ANyway, after talking to someone in my family....found out I actually had worms when I was a child! From eating dirt. I knew at the time I was overreacting, just worried about our kids. But Izzy IS one of our kids. We definatly wouldn't put our kids out if they had worms. So thank you all for your input, I had already brought her back in before even checking here for responses. Our lil girl isn't going anywhere.....we love her too much and she has already been a blessing and made our family more complete. Of course getting rid of "hangers" wouldnt bother me! I just have a very extreme fear of worms in general! But thank you all for your responses, sometimes a person needs a slap back into reality! I did. But thank you all....and dont worry! Our Izzy is back with us indoors, same as before we knew she had worms. I mean, we did live in here with her for 6wks before we knew anything!!!! That tells me all I need to know. But she is doing good. The medicine didn't make her sick, she passed worms the day following her appointment. I have to give her the second dose of meds on May 14th and after that take a fecal sample to vet to be checked! So Wish us luck!! Hope those things get outta our baby!!!!

worming your kids?? Seriously, Ive never heard of this.....how do you worm your children????

Worming your kids? Yep seriously. I buy the stuff over the counter at the drugstore. I think the doctor can prescribe more potent stuff but I've never used it. My mom wormed us as kids spring and fall as well. Glad to here your baby is back inside.

EAO76 I laughed so hard at your post I woke my sleeping boxers and they sat up and looked at me sideways... been there and done that hanger on thing ewwwww... the look on the boxers face when this happens is way to cute a mix of dismay and embarrassment and fright all mixed in together , and walking around kinda bunched all up while trying to wiggle it off .... oh my..


My daughters went to stay a month with their biological father when they were little and came back with worms.. ewww , had to take them to the doctor for a deworming.. I was totally disgusted with ex-hubby for sure.. I did not know you could buy human dewormers over the counter.. but oh well I made my ex pay for the doctor bill anyway hehehe.. Doctor said it was probably from playing in the sand box at the park. So things happen, puppies and kids can get worms, no ones fault I suppose I just wanted to BLAME HIM haha..
