My baby Maisy has suddenly started crying all the time. She is just over a year old and has never done this before. At night she is crying in her sleep and she just cries all the time when she is outside. She never really wants to play anymore and in the last day or so she keeps trying to run away. I (I mean my neighbor) found her out front 3 times before I even left for work this morning. I don't know what to do... She has always been a playful fun boxer, but now I think she is sad... :( Any advise on what could be wrong with her?

Hi mindympro,

Please post your Introduction, as required by the Rules (and should have actually been your first post) ;)

When you mention that your neighbor has found her out front -- do you keep her outdoors?

Have you moved? My sisters dog did the same thing. We moved about a mile away from my moms house (who we used to live with) then he stated getting depressed. My mom and sister had to have visit rights in order to get him healthy again. Every other night the dusty (the dog) would go to my moms house to stay the night. Was there a change in her schedule? We also got him another play mate that helped out in the depression.

I posted my intro... Thanks, I didn't realize I had to do that first! ;) She goes outside in the morning before I go to work so she can go potty and stuff... she likes to be outside... we have a huge yard for her and Mama Mia (our Min Pin) to play in... we haven't moved and there has been no change in her schedule...

Is she spayed yet? If not, one possibility is that she is coming into heat. If that is the case, her unleashed trips into your yard would need to cease immediately.

Hi welcome to Boxerworld. One of my boxers cries when he wants attention from me. Have you tried a little TLC?

Also I see you are in Phoenix also. Phoenix Boxer Rescue is having a dog wash and you can get your boxer micro-chipped also. I am sure there will be lots of people there you could bounce questions off of. Its at the "Smelly Dog" off Camelback on around 8th Street (right by Target)

Thanks for all the help and advise! She's not in heat, she get's more TLC than any dog probably ever does, we haven't moved, nothings changed in our schedule, and she has a playmate... I don't know what else to do. I am scared one day she is going to jump over the wall and not come back! In the begining we crated her but she ALWAYS got out of it, and somehow ALWAYS get's out into the yard (when she's in she wants out, when she's out she wants in!) But before she didn't jump the 6 ft wall. She is a MAGIC dog! Maybe it has something to due with me being pregnant? I have always heard that dogs know... maybe that's why she cries all the time? is she afraid she wont get any more attention?

If you have ruled out any possible environmental triggers, I would suggest you take her to your vet and let him know this information too. It may be something medically causing her to cry all the time

She could just be going through adolescence? Tess went through a really whiney stage. She just never seemed satisfied with anything. Just like you described. Maybe it is just her hormones changing. It's about the right time. Is she spayed?

Now What?!

Maisy is doing so much better... I don't know what her problem was during that week, but she is playing again and hasen't been crying at night! We are so relieved! HOWEVER... we are now having a really hard time keeping her from jumping the walls... she even does it when we are outside with her in the pool!! I think she even opens the latch to let Mama Mia our Min Pin out too! It is happening almost everyday! Any words of encouragment on how to break her of this?! I am big on POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, however, I am not seeing any POSITIVE about this! I am scared for her I don't want her to get hurt, or stollen!
