I have a carpet cleaner and the best thing I found for smaller spots is the Bissel carpet solution. We mix it 1 to 1 with water in a spray bottle and use it with a sponge for the smaller stains. Works like a charm.

For bigger areas or cleaning the whole carpet, you are further ahead to buy a cleaner, You also will use it more than you think.

Dont Rent a cleaner go buy one. By time you rent one and send it back your going to want to clean the carpet more often. Thats what i did. I rented and rented. Spent the money that could cost for the cleaner. I bought a hoover. I love there cleaning solution. They also have for pet and order. Bissal has good solution also. Thats what i use. Love them both. Get a cleaner that the brushes go in circle not just back and frouth. Cleans better.

I agree. Bought a Hoover and love it. It comes in handy if they have an accident.

Bissell has a Pet Odor solution that we really like.

It's amazing!!!! I haven't had a stain yet that it wouldn't remove. I mix some with water and keep it in a squirt bottle for when the boys have accidents. I've tried a lot of stain removers and it's the best I've found.

I also agree with the suggestion of buying a carpet steam cleaner. We have the Bissel pro-heat and use their brand of cleaning solution. With white carpets and two dogs, I couldn't live without the steam cleaner. We use ours about once a month. My MIL owns a Hoover steam cleaner, which we used to borrow before we bought ours, but I prefer the Bissel because the water is heated and I think it's also easier to use.
For spot cleaning we use a brand called Purex which seems to work the best. We buy a big gallon of it at Home Depot and refill the bottle.

I did a lot of research & finally decided on buyiong a Kenmore Steam Cleaner from Sears. It's the big teal colored one, it has the same internal parts as a Hoover- but it was about $100 less. It has a better warranty & more attachments. It cleans like no one's business, it's awesome !!!

I agree. You need to buy one. Also be sure to "pre spot" with something highly concentrated like Resolve.
