Rocco has no odor to him at all, even when he's wet. But Dino, smells like a dog. I never thought of their slobber being the culprit. I do notice his "smell" is on his muzzle. So I guess Dino will be getting a daily face wash.

I shampoo our carpet with a vinegar solution every couple of months. The rest of the floors are vinyl and hardwood. They are mopped at least once a week with vinegar water. I put scented dryer sheets on the furnace filter on the cold air return. I also use a lot of febreeze!

I don't notice a dog smell. The cat's litter box is another story!

Since you have hardwood floors, It's more than likely the furniture that could be trapping the odors. I noticed that when ours park themselves on one couch, the smell can hang in there for days. I use Febreeze for fabrics on the furniture. The carpet doesn't seem to keep the smells but I vacuum all the time.

Also, how do your parents REALLY feel about the dogs? Is it love, or tolerance?
That might be part of the problem. They could be smelling something that just isn't there.

I think the dog beds and the boxy drull is where the smell come from.

I wash their bed every week and they have a face wash every morning (it's part of the routine "Good morning puppies!!!! let's wash the faces!!!" (wipes) and then cookie for good behavior (sitting pretty while wiping the face/eyes) and then.. hop hop to the leashes for morning potty!!!

My house don't smell, but i'm a "open the windows" freak! ;)

My mom had a hard time selling her house due to cat smell. But what she did is when the relator scheduled a showing she would cook cookies before they showed up so the house smelled of cookies instead of kitties.

Unfortunately smell isn't one of the things that Nylah and Davinci have. I, along with Jerome go to the hardware store monthly and rent a carpet cleaner to clean the floors to eradicate any smell, vacuum the floor regularly, and take them to the groomers every two weeks. We try our best to let them do a huge deal of their playing outside versus indoors. If the smell gets to heavy I would personally suggest doing the following: cleaning the carpets along with any upholstery put some Febreeze in the water. Then spray the upholstery down with Febreeze before it dries. When the floor is dry sprinkle a deorderizer on the floor...I love regular baking powder and then vacuum the floor. Everyone who visits either of our places can't tell that we even have dogs...that is until they come out to get their kisses...LOL
