Max gets foamy when he's tired from all the running and playing... Or if he goes on a sniff fest LoL... I just give him some water out of the bottle I carry with me and he's fine.
My sign of him being too tired to play even though he doesn't want to stop are his eyes. The minute they get darker red than they usually are, I know it's time for a break.
