Dog or Bitch?

Is it true that dogs(males) and bitches never fight?
I'm waiting for a rescue boxer to become available and have opted for a bitch because I read that a male dog won't fight with a bitch.
My parents have a male dog, Nero aged 13 (crossed boxer) who hates most other animals and we look after him quite alot when they go on holiday etc. So obviously it is important that the dog we get will get on with theirs.
Our last boxer, Holly who died recently was a bitch and the 2 of them always got on but I wonder whether this was because Nero knew her from a pup?
As this time we'd like to give a rescue dog a home it is unlikely that we will get a pup so how do you think Nero will take to it? Do you think he'll get on with a bitch better than a male?

What is the difference between a dog and a bitch? I mean I know a bitch is a female dog .... but what exactly is a dog? a male dog?

All dogs will fight if they deem it necessary, regardless of gender.

Males and females together TEND to have fewer problems in terms of dominance and alpha status between them than do pairs of the same sex, but they do and will fight if there is that big a disagreement between them.

I have two females who never fight with one another. However, Susie has taken on many a male in the park or on our walks. She's rather dominant with other dogs, especially males. So whomever gave you the notion that boy and girl dogs will not fight simply did not know what they were talking about.

The rescue organization will find the right dog for you and your other dog. That's what they do best. Let them take care of finding a suitable match for you.

I have heard that too..Thank you Dan.. I know Jaxes mom (China).
Would Fight with Jax. When they were around each other. She never done this to his dad (Beethoven).
I raised Jax and Beethoven together, and they never fought. Beethoven was almost 8 years old. When Jax was born. He did not care for him when I first brought Jax home, but then they became a team. They were hardley ever apart.
We also had another outside dog, and Beethoevn did not like him. Yet the other dog and Jax got along........... Some dogs can get along and some can not.

As Dan said all dogs can fight, but it doesn't happen as often with opposite sexes. See is you can Nero to meet the other dog and then you will get an idea as to whether they are going to get along or not. It really all depends on their individual personalities.

sometimes in the park when their is a group of us i have seen bitches and dogs fighting normally its over a toy and is over in no time .
