Hi

Have any of you ever had your boxer get hurt in a fight?

I feel so so bad....I had a bone in the backyard and didn't realise that when my Mum's boxer (also a female) came over. They were happily playing, as they are usually the best of friends and then they had the most HORRIFIC fight over the bone. I couldn't stop them! My poor baby had to go to the vet and get stitches...and I feel like it is my fault for leaving the bone out.

Has this happened to anyone else?

We had a rott and a border collie that used to do stuff like this. They were very territorial and when there was nothing around for them to fight over they got along just fine and were the best of friends. But when it was feeding time or there was an extra toy/bone left out in the yard all hell broke loose. The rott always tore up the border collie, she is a very strong dog and much bigger than the border collie. I would think it was just a dominance issue between the two females. No clue, just wanted to give you some input!

There are NO real bones allowed in my house because of this very reason. My 3 dogs are the best of friends until a real bone comes into play. My Am Staff Terrier will literally try to eat my other dogs if there is a real bone. This is his ONLY temperment issue and never has any problem with anything else. (except male dogs, he doesn't like em) Of course I had to buy and bring home a bone to figure this out and my poor Cleo suffered a couple of stiches because of it. Don't feel bad! How could you have possibly known. Live and learn, it's the best we can do. The odd thing is I buy them nylabones all the time and they love them and never fight over them. I also buy everything in 3's.

I have a male and a female, and they've never hurt each other. They won't even fight over a bone. The one that doesn't have the bone will just sit there and whine until the other one leaves the bone unattended.

Also, you had better keep a VERY close eye on these 2 girls from now on whenever they are together. When 2 females fight like that, they do NOT forget about it. They tend to hold grudges and just wait for the next opportunity to try to kill each other.

You should also do some research on how to properly break up a dog fight so that in the future if there is trouble, you can perhaps intervene BEFORE the dogs seriously injure one another or you!
