Hi All,

Since I've had my boxer puppy, for months she would always only eat when she was hungry. She would consistenly be behind meals and slowly eat her food throughout the day. Now, she is almost one year's old, and for about a month now she eats all her kibble right away. Since she used to eat it only as hungry, I tend to give her more if she eats it all right away and she's been eating all of that too. I follow the bag instructions for how much to feed her. She eats Avoderm. Has anyone had similar experiences with their puppy/dog's eating habits changing like this?

I don't want to make her overweight, but I feel bad when I think she is still hungry. She is very active, and we go for walks, etc. Any suggestions if this change could be because of a health problem or is normal behavior? Thanks for any suggestions! :)

My Wilson started that around that age.. needless to say that he is still like that.. I just feed the recommended amount. Some dogs will eat and eat all day and we all know that is not good for them. I call my dog a hoover vacume because he used to eat anything.. and still does... ( he recently ate a glove.. and had to have surgery) Next time you go to the vet talk to your vet about it and make sure it is not a medical problem. Keep us posted.

Thanks for your reply. It's nice to hear someone else's experience. Sounds like it could just be an age thing. I'm glad your Wilson is doing ok after his surgery. :)

I was wondering the same thing actually. But my boy started it around age 4. He used to be totally uninterested in food, would only eat casually when he felt like it. Now he acts like he's starving most of the time. Eats his food up as soon as it's put in the bowl. And still wants more. He was up to 95lbs 2 months ago, and I've finally gotten him down to 89lbs. Only 4 more to go!

But as long as your pup isn't overweight, and you're feeding the recommended dosage then I wouldn't worry about it :)

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear it's normal. This is my first pup so I'm still learning. :) My girl is around 62-63 pounds the last time we weighed her, so I don't think she is overweight. I think she is still growing and filling out a little bit too.
