Dog Door

Hello,
Does anyone have a Dog Door? How big? How high off the ground is it? I have a male boxer that is 22#'s at 18 weeks. I want to install the door so it will be the right height for him when he is full grown.

We had a doggy door in our last house. I think it was made by Petsafe, but I'm not sure. We got it at Lowes, and it was the XL. We had ordered a different brand at first, and had ordered one that went by the dog's weight. Thor weighed 100 lbs at the time and because his chest was so broad he wouldn't fit thru it. So we switched to the Petsafe. Ours went from a screened in porch to a deck that was a step lower. We installed it 4-5" off the floor of the porch. That way the dogs could reach it from the deck and it wasn't too low from the porch. Arabella was maybe 4-5 months old and was fine going in and out at that height, as well as Thor was. If it was going to a patio of the same height I think we would have put it a few inches higher. Arabella was fearless and was running in and out immediately, my other two took awhile to learn. I hope this helps.

We have a doggie door, we also got ours at Lowes, it was already built into a storm door. Love it! I don't know what we did without it.

Any idea how big the flap is (width and height) and how high is the bottom of the dog door opening from the ground and how high the bottom of the dog door opening from the inside floor. These measurements would be very helpful.

The opening on Cosworth's is 15" tall X 10" wide (18" X 12" overall to the frame) and about 8" off the floor. Cosworth himself is about 19"-20" tall at the shoulder and not at all a fan of the tape measures. His front knees (elbows?) are about 10" off the ground when he walks. He weighs about 65 lbs and the door is plenty big. My sister has 3 100+ lb dogs that go though the same sized door like it's nothing. The key is to frame the door around the dogs body instead of the legs.
