Well the sun finally came out this morning (after many days of rain) and I decided to do some "spring cleaning" and rearrange my living room and vacuum and dust really good.
As I'm doing this I start chuckling to myself after I realize that I am arranging the furniture to look good AROUND the dog crate!!?!!?! foolicon
(Payton has a nice black crate with a nice bed in it thats color coordinated to our front room!) Does anybody else do this???? Am I nuts?!?!

I have found that if his crate is in the front room with us- he tends to use it more to relax in, whereas when it was in our bedroom he rarely went in it on his own.

Hmmm... something to think about.... Where does everyone have their babies crates?

Here we have one in the living room that is rarely ever used and one that is in our bedroom that Indy chooses to sleep in every night. Hwvr, there is a great big doggy pillow in the family room for him too.

At the lake, his crate is in our bedroom, another big pillow in the loft as he really likes it up there and one in the living/family room. Uh-oh, I'm really starting to see a trend here....

Last year I threw our crate in to storage since we never used it. Baby never used/needed to be crated. I kept one just in case the need ever came up.

When I had the crate up I did the same thing, LOL. I rearranged the furniture to look good around the dog crate. I just assumed everyone else did too....

I keep my two in the basement. Keep in mind its not one of those moldy and mildew basements. Its very well kept and used often. I find it stays a consistant cool temp in the summer and gets nice and toasty in the summer. My dogs sleep with me, so really no reason to have the crates any place else. Hope that helps a little. :)

I keep my two in the computer room which is already small and now smaller with the crates. I wish I had some crates that blended with the furniture!
I just need to try and find somewhere else to put them.

Ha! Funny this topic came up! We just bought a bigger crate for Roscoe and have his old one still in the living room for when Blayne comes home. We havent decided where to put Roscoe's newer LARGER crate, so it is just sitting in the middle of the living room floor, right in front of the TV and right under the ceiling fan :) I have been saying for a week now, that we need to rearrange things and figure out where to put the crates. I dont like them sitting right out in the open in my living room, so I try to tuck them away in a corner somewhere, but now I have no more corners to tuck them in. I am going to try the kitchen now and see if I like them in there. Ugh...I need a bigger house!!!

Same with us! Our basement isn't finished, but it is set up like a living room, and Cy's kennel is in the corner. We rarely use it anymore now that he is growing up and leaves most things alone. He sleeps upstairs with us at night now, but next to the bed.

Grumpy's crate is in our bedroom...
Our master bedroom has a huge bay window overlooking the lake, it would be a beautiful place for a comfy chair or nice desk, but what do we put there? A big plastic dog crate. And the crate also blocks the sliding doors out onto the balcony...
That's ok, since we got Grumpy I don't have much free time for admiring the view or sitting on the balcony anyway!

Rolen's crate is in the kitchen! We just started blocking off the kitchen to leave him during the day, so far so good! I came home today and he was just hanging out in his crate with the door open :) Made me feel good to know that he likes his crate. He sleeps in his crate at night as well.
