I was hoping some of you could help me out on picking a bed for Wrigley. I know a lot of you share your beds with your furbabies but was hoping for some insight on an alternative.

There are so many different kinds of beds and they all seem to be pretty expensive so I wanted to make sure I got something he would really like and use. Do Boxers typically like fluffy beds or firm beds (I'm sure it depends on the dog but figured I'd ask)? I can't believe how many different variations there are.

What types do you guys have?

Both of mine like fluffy pillows. I bought mine at PetsMart for $39.00. If it's something you wouldn't mind curling up on, I'm sure your boxer will love it.

Word to the wise - don't spend a mint on a dog pillow and definitely don't get one that is not machine washable. My 2 have been through 4 between the 2 of them.

Costco used to carry a very high quality pillow for like $20. I haven't been lately to see if they still have them, but they aren't on the website anymore, so I'm guessing not.

Of course Jasmine happens to love dh and my bed. I did buy her a big body pillow to put at the foot of the bed so she now lays at the foot of the bed. She doesn't lay on the pillow she just likes to cram her head up against it sideways- goofy girl.

Hailey has her own ottoman. Matter of fact I had to purchase her another one because someone either peed or got sick on hers. Lessoned learned to put a waterproof cover over the new one. I picked the new one up at Value City furniture in the scratch and dent section, it still cost me $78. I definately wouldn't pay full price.

The dogs also have an ottoman downstairs that they love sleeping on during the day. There are also 2 dog beds that I picked up from Sam's Club, but they flatten out pretty quick. A few other places that carry dog beds that aren't too expensive is TJ Maxx, Marshall's Department store and Ross Department Store. Good luck!

BEAN BAG!!! lol Lily used to sleep with me, but it was getting a bit annoying being pushed off the bed so i went and bought a massive bean bag. She absolutely loves it and hasnt slept on my bed again at night time :D On another upside she looks hilarious when she goes round in circles trying to get comfy because she keeps sinking :D

Whatever you get i would suggest getting 2 covers so you can take off one to wash it :)

I bought a orthopedic bed for Tatie to sleep on in her crate. It's flat enough and has sheepskin over the top of it. It doesn't take up too much room and she is growing so fast it's supposed to be good on her bones and pressure points. It was a bit expensive but I'm hoping it lasts a long time! One thing though - it's not pee proof. Until she's a bit older I have to cover it with a cloth puppy pad (it's thick and washable and absorbs a ton of pee). I use it just in case but it was almost as expensive as the bed!

For the day time, I bought a CostoCo pillow for $20. She loves it :)

My dogs definitely rather 'sink' into a bed rather than lay on top of a bed. We bought an expensive orthopedic bed for them and they never used it until we threw a cheap fluffy bed on top--now one of them uses it all the time. I wouldn't spend a whole lot on a bed--we replace the cheapo ones a couple of times a year. The ones I like best are the Costco $20 round beds.

We actually took a king size comforter, cut it in half, doubled the halves and then sewed it. It was the perfect size for their crates. They love it and it's washable. I'm getting ready to do it again for out in the living area for them. Except I may get two twins instead to give them more room. Not too expensive and I got two beds for about $35.00 total and a little sewing time...that was the hard part, I'm terrible at it!! Thank god DH knows how to run that blasted machine..

Dog Beds

About 5 years ago, I bought 2 52" Rounds at Sams Club for $35 each; these sale easily for $100 elsewhere. These had expensive decorator fabric. I recently took out the inside liner and used it as a pattern to make new liners. I took an old twin sheet and it made one liner beautifully. I filled the liner with cut up memory foam. Total cost for new inside liner was $22. My beds look brand new again.

I think this winter, I will be making new covers for my rounds using McCall's 3071. This pattern has instructions for making dog coats, Round Beds and the snuggle beds.
