Doesn't Like His Kong?

From what I have read on this board, the "kong" is the best toy ever to a pup. So I went to the pet store and purchased the blue one specially for puppies. I have tried everything I can think of and Spike just isn't interested in it. My 4 year old plays with it more than Spike. Yesterday I filled it Peanut Butter and a few treats, and gave it to him in his crate before leaving. He didn't touch it all day long. Anyone have any imput? Any suggestions on other things to stuff it with? I know that all dogs are different and maybe he just doesn't want it right now, but I was just curious if anyone else had this happen?

Are you sure that Spike likes peanut butter? Markus would never play with his Kong. The only time I gave him peanut butter was in his Kong. It took me awhile to figure out that he hated peanut butter. :(

I would try something different in the kong, yogurt, bananna etc... Try freezing it too, they like it!! Also watch the puppy kongs, they are small, and it wont take long for it to get wrecked! (the hole in the middle might be too small for them to get anything out!!)

Elvis wont touch his kong in the shape of a bee hive, however we brought him a hexagon shaped one which for some reason is fine with, go figure... One picky dog!

We bought Bradlee one before we brought her home. It took 4 months to become interested. Now she tosses it about and knows it is PB time when I fill it.

Yeah, definetly experiment with different things. The Kong website has all kinds of fun recipes on there too. It's almost limitless what you can put in there. Don't be discouraged if peanut butter isn't a hit. You'll find something he can't get enough of and he'll go nuts at the sight of his kong! Good luck, have fun!

I have made him peanut butter bone sandwiches before and he loves them (peanut butter inbetween two milk bones).

I tried putting yogurt on him kibble to help with his super smelly gas, but he didn't like it. I tried plain, and fruit flavored, but he just turned hs nose up at it. He is a picky little eater - finally got him hooked on CS kibble in which he LOVES!! I will have to find some smaller treats to stuff with, maybe he can't get them out and gets board with it.

Arty loves his Kong(s). Even when there is nothing in them.

He still has his Puppy Kong, he's got a black Kong, and then the super duper king size Kong. It's great watching him throw that thing around.

My dog Thor was not interested at all in his kong when we initially introduced him to it. I would come hoem from work and it would barely be touched. Once he got used to the crate, he now looks forward to going to his crate to get his kong. It is empty anytime he gets it now.

Since your dog likes peanut butter, I would give him a little time. I fill my kong with dog food and plug the big end with peanut butter. Thor loves it!

angel Kiddo never did like the Kong and 3 year old Chancey has just now decided she does like it.......some dogs just like keeping us humans guessing
