My apt doesn't smell (tho Luka is a Kerry Blue and doesn't shed or produce allergy dander)... my car does smell tho :o
I use a inbetween bath spray like, every three days and he gets brushed (fur and teeth) every day and his eyes washed. He does have his own "Luka smell" which I love, it's not smelly (some might not like it!) but it the apt doesn't smell like it.

I have a VERY keen sense of smell. I can smell an accident from across the house the minute I walk in. Humidity is the biggest problem. Everything is heightened when it's wet outside.
Tess doesn't smell that bad, actually. Febreeze is a big help. Nature's Miracle is great on problem spots and gets most of the stench out. I leave my windows open as often as possible. To answer your question, though, I don't usually smell her (or signs of her), which usually means it doesn't smell.
How rude of someone to comment on the way someone's house is kept or smells!! It reminds me of a joke I once read about rules for visitor who don't have dogs. One of the rules reads, "If you don't like hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture!" Maybe, I need to find the whole list and post it. I know we all have someone like that in our lives!

I never think that my house smells and I have two soon to be three furbabies. No kids or husband just me and my two babies. I found that this helps.......If one of the kids had an acciden I use my spot lifter from bissle that I cought at Walmart. It is awesome....it sprays down the area and then sucks all the smell and liquid....it even works on #2 messes too once you get them picked up. This thing is wonderful because my boy can't smell to mark again. If its a really bad smell I try to leave baking soda on it for a few hours, vaaccum and then use the spot lifter. This sucks out all of the smell from the spot. Also to make my house smell super good I have candle warmers in every room and a giant one right when you walk into the door. Candles sit inside and get warm all around and smell wonderful. I even have a little cinnamon bun warmer in the pups room. They are much safer than candles and I leave them burning and melting all night and then turn them off in the morning.....my house smells wonderful 24-7! I love it and so do the dogs......I hope this gives you some ideas!!!!

Well, I like to think mine does not smell...
But I think it comes down to pet people vs non pet people. Just like a smoker does not know their clothing reaks,even freshly washed. A matter of opinion and what you are used to.

Well you know I've read on here time & time again how boxers are so clean and do not smell (other then the frito thing), but I gotta tell ya--Keno does get stinky quite often! I have a very sensitive nose so I can smell him stinking usually before anyone else in our house can. It's time for a bath when I can walk into the room where he is and can smell him! I use carpet fresh and the glade scented oil plug ins too just to help out a bit with his animal smell! I do know tho that he tries hard to keep himself clean (always licking his paws and legs), but no matter how much cleaning he does to himself he still sometimes has that doggy smell that stinks up the house! Yuck! But we're dealing with it (ofcourse) cause there's no way he's getting the boot to the backyard!

My house smells but not from the dogs. It comes from this 40yr old carpet that the landlord refuses to get rid of!! When I moved in it was so full of stains...big...black stains...spilled coffee...nailpolish...food, you name, it's on there! The people before me had 2 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, 4 birds, 3 cats, a fish tank and a freakin partridge in a pear tree!! :p All the animals ran lose and when I moved in I was cleaning rabbit poo off the carpeting upstairs and bird crap off the top of the cupboards!!
I spray my dogs weekly with pet cologne, I spray febreeze, and I burn scented wax tarts in warmers that smell sooooo good and throughout the entire house ( I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys aromatherapy)!
As for smelly dogs...naw..only when they are wet. Humans on the other hand...geesh...I barred one brother from my house until he is introduced to underarm deoderant! He makes our eyes water and the dogs sneeze! :rolleyes:

I've had a number of people tell me how nice my house smells. My boxer (waiting at the bridge) had a nice natural smell that people also commented on. When we were looking to add a new dog family member, I went to a lot of shelters. I know I have a sensitive nose, so when no one was looking I would sniff each prospect behind the ears and on their back. I hope no one noticed! I can just see the shelter people nudging each other and saying, "Here's the crazy dog sniffer lady, back again!" Anyway, our new furbaby also has a nice natural smell. I think washing our linens weekly and owning a leather sofa helps keep everything smelling fresh.
