Does your house smell?

My husband's cousin and his wife stayed with us for 4 days this past week. First thing outta her mouth was "Does your dog live in the house with you???) I proudly said yes. I must admit i never thought of keeping a dog indoors......until we got Cassius. I absolutely LOVE having him right with us.
I try to keep things clean (I also have 2 kids). I vacuum and sweep daily. I wash his bedding pretty regularly, he gets bath every 1-2 weeks. I use cleaner on the tile, and Febreeze the carpet. I am not trying to impress people, but I would like a clean smelling house. I think we are immune to any pet odors
What do you guys do to keep a fresh smelling home?

p.s. I personally wouldn't make a comment in someone's home about the way they chose to live.......some people :eek:

I honestly don't think my house smells like a dog. Boxers are so clean anyway. Granted, I only have one dog and one skin kid. My DH (who has had Boxers since he was a little boy) has always said he thinks they smell like "burnt toast" which I never have been able to figure out, but whatever I would never even think about making a comment about someone else's house! What a rude thing to say :eek:

I do not think my house smells either. I will admit that when we got Diva I was concerned about the "dog smell". I have had many people over since I've had her, and I always ask, "does my house smell" and they are like, "not at all!!!"
I clean my house once a week and Diva gets wiped down with baby wipes once a week also. The only thing that smells on her are her feet. They totally smell like Frito Corn Chips.
I told my fiancee when we get another boxer, I want to name him Frito!!

That is so true about their feet. I think their faces kinda smell too. We go through alot of those baby wipes, because all 3 of our boxers usually sleep with us :D. I usually vaccum every other day and go through alot of frebreeze. My Mother and Mother-in-Law (who have the sharpest noses in Ohio) say our house never smells appicon so, I guess we're doing something right.

Our house doesnt smell either. My parents were really concerned about having a "doggy" smell in our house when we got Boomer. Im pretty good about vaccuming and sweeping. When I vaccum I also vaccum the couch since he seems to be spening lots of time up there. It helps that I was already adicted to Yankee Candle and I love to burn them, so that adds a fresh scent.

I don't think my house smells, but when it's damp outside my Mom says she can smell Austin.

I notice a "dog" smell in my house when the skin kids and fur kids have been in and outside of the hous a million times and they track in dirt on the floors or if its a really hummid day the house seems to smell some. I sweep and vaccumm everyday and mop every few days. If things start to smell I open up the window in all of the rooms and air out the house.

i think my house smells sometimes but i ask friends who come over and they say no...with 3 dogs 2 boxers and a akita and a cat i cant see how it would'nt but i clean alot and burn candles ....side note i have come home and could smell boxer farts.....

I've never had complaints about the dogs, only the cats. They are stinky little beasts! I clean the litter box several times per day, and they always seem to go again the second that I'm done. I vacuum every couple days and wash sheets and blankets every week. I also spray Febreeze on the couch, and I have some pet powder I sprinkle on the carpet before I vacuum. I used to use those vanilla oil air fresheners that you'd plug into an outlet, and I never had a complaint that my house smelled, even with the cats! I don't use them right now though because the dogs would rip them right out of the outlet.

So I guess the more humidity the more you can smell the doggie??? I guess I'm fresh outta luck because where we live the humidity is maybe 90% on most days GO FIGURE :rolleyes:
Okay......so anybody with any ideas about high humidity areas???
