Does your Boxer....(to long of a title)

Just this week Owen started getting excited if I pick up my keys. (We went to the vet on Thursday & I think that's when he finally made the connection .) Also, if I tell him we are going somewhere (vet, petstore, a ride), he doesn't even want to go to the swale to pee. He stops at the car and sniffs the back door. I have to pull him away so he'll pee before we leave .

I also trained him to sit when I pick up his leash. That way he's easier to get a hold of :D .

 

[Super Boo]

My kids know that sweats mean we're going for a walk and jeans (the stinky ones) mean go the horse stables. They will sniff up and down my leg to determine the difference between my normal jeans and riding jeans. They also know what my work clothes mean :( and won't even assume it's good--they will go in the other room and lay down.

Tyson gets all excited when I get my purse and keys! he tries to block my path to the door, as if to prevent me from leaving without him. If however I pick up their harnesses they both start dancing and doing the boxer wiggle until they are "dressed" and ready to go! funny babies

Absolutely! Mine won't come down the stairs in the am until they hear me start to put on my shoes. And if I pick my keys up and put them in my pocket, then Herkie knows we're going for a walk, if I keep them in my hand...he knows we're going for a ride, and reacts accordingly. Very smart animals....they learn our routines....thus becoming their routines.

Toffee definitely recognizes when my suitcase is out, and she is NOT happy. I swear she frowns as soon as she sees it. She makes me feel absolutely wretched :(

When we are leaving for a longer than normal period of time we move our dogs' cages from our bedroom to the kitchen. This is so that when grandma and grandpa come let them out and feed them they don't have to go through the whole house. Dodge has learned what this means, and refuses to get into his cage in the kitchen. He doesn't want us to leave. Kind of sweet, but it's hard to pick up a boxer and place him in his cage.

I have a nylon jacket, scarf and slip on clogs by the door. Everytime I start putting them on, Luka goes to the door and sits, waiting for his leash! He also knows if I pick up my keys, we're going in the car.

After I take my shower Austin knows when I'm putting on my sneakers it's walk time. He gets up and makes a biiiiig stretch and then follows me around whining until I say "YOU READY?" Then he knows it's time to go!

We have this ritual that every second day, when I go out to pick up Jacob's "jobs", when I'm done we play ball in the back yard. Now when I go to the pantry to get the plastic groceries bags to put his "jobs" in, he freaks. He starts wooing & dancing & running between me & the back door. It's hilarious! As far as leaving the house, if it's really early in the morning, he won't move off the couch because he knows that I'm going to work. Any other time of the day he walks you to the door and waits for his cue. It's either "See you later buddy" or "come on, lets go". At "see you" he just stands staring while you leave. With "come on" you get a dance & a song!!!
