Well, it was Saturday morning and I decided after a long morning of work to take best friend out for a walk. Well, I put on my grey hooded sweatshirt and he goes nuts. Jumps up and down, ran up the stairs like a nut (mind you he is 8 yrs old). Then it hit me, My buddy associates the grey hooded sweatshirt with walk time. I put this sweatshirt on everytime I take him for a walk and until now never realized he did this. Its a comfy sweatshirt and warm thats why I wear it when we walk.
Anyway, the point of this thread is to see if your Boxer does this or associates anything with what your wearing or what your doing to what he thinks is gonna happen?

A resounding YES! I too wear the same clothes and shoes when I take Cini and Zak for their runs and they are onto me instantly when they see me dressed that way. If I'm going to do gardening later on in the day I keep the clothes on so as not to cause a riot when I do go outside. And they are very quick to pick up on our going out in the car as well.

they associate my school bag with me leaving. My German Shepherd used to attack my school bag when i put it on to leave for school

Molly hates to see DH put on his work jacket cause that means it's crate time. She literally runs and hides and it is a game of hide and seek. DH has started to get ready for work a little earlier these days just so he has enough time to find Molly and get her into her crate.

For my pups, its me putting on my tennis shoes, if its a weekday! They go nuts! :D They still gets all excited if they see the leashes, or we put on jackets, say "walk" or "Ride". They must know that on weekdays I go to worki and wear dress shoes. :D I can put on my tennis shoes on the weekend without much of a response!! LOL

Completely Boxer Crazy
My two go crazy when we put on our running shoes, they know what time it is! We usually take them out after dinner for their walk. As soon as my husband sits down with his cup of tea it starts...whooing and crying and running around until we finally take them out..I think they associate the smell of the tea with their walk also!

My boxer doesn't really get excited about anything we do when we get to leave....but she gets crazy when we come home. She beans for 20 minutes and kisses at least that long. My min pin, on the other hand - knows his signals. When my husband I put on a hat - he tries to take it right off our head! If I pull out their "doggy bag" looking for something or getting their leashes, he jumps all over the place and runs up and down the stairs. If I say bye-bye, he goes batty. If I just say bye he's fine - but if I put the two together, oh my word - watch out for him!!

Oh yes, when I shower, and start getting ready he will park himself on my bathroom rug, and just look at me... then after dressing, if I pick up my purse, he's up my a$$..... literally until I either leave, or take him with me. I usually will open the blinds, put his blanket on the couch, and his chewy and tell him "see you later" and he knows he's not coming. As long as he can look outside, he's usually pretty content. People walk by a lot so he has a lot to look at when he has to stay home alone.
