Does your boxer like beer?!

We rarely drink in my house, but just the other night Joe brought home a 6-pack.
Well needless to say Greta was a real pest! She followed us around and whined and begged for some of our beer, she was so cute and pathetic I almost gave her some (she takes Phenobarbatol for her siezures so I didn't dare)! I figure her old family must have indulged her on occasion. I don't see any harm in it if you allow them a taste once in a while, just don't let them "over indulge". I have had dogs most of my life and I have had several that liked all kinds of alchohal and some that hated it.

Its amazing......I was going to post the question myself soon. Winston pulled a beer can out of a trash can and chewed the side of the can to pieces to get at what was left in the can. I freaked out when I seen what he had done. I picked it up and threw back in can and he then punched the trash can over and here we both were on the floor trying to get beer can first.

Keisha doesn't like beer but Riley (the chihuahua) LOVES it. She used to like wine too until I left a glass unattended on the patio table a couple of years ago - she drank quite a bit - she was a nasty drunk -and she was hung over for two days. We are so lucky that she didn't die! Now, if I have a glass of wine, I put it up to her nose and she acts like it was poison, and tries to get right away from it!
I do give her a capful of beer once in a while and she just loves it and begs for more. She also likes coffee but I don't her that very often either.

how funny, i was going to post this topic, but i did not want to get yelled at for having and alcholic (sp) dog.

Bandit loves MGD and Arbor Mist wine, if there is either in the house, we have to hide it or it will be gone. We never gave him either and when Brian and I had our reception at our cabin, our friends showed up, and left a open bottle of wine on the ground and bandit went to town on it,he drank all he could and we had to put him in his cage so he wouldn't a) get sick and b) drink the rest of the beer.

So if Brian or i bring beer home we have to hide it, or we will have a drunk puppy to deal with ( not very fun) and we have to keep the cans out of his reach or i will be cleaning carpets. :D

Great topic, Bama loves beer and wine we have to watch our cans or glasses when he is around. Brutis on the other hand does not like either he turns his nose up to us. Axle who was our little puggy boy totally went nuts for beer. He would get up on my husbands lap and look at him with a pitful face to get a drink of beer. Axle also loved Hot Butter Rums ( I make them homemade) one night before we realized he liked them I put mine down to go outside for a minute and we came back in Axle had sucked down my drink as was drunk, it was not a pretty site the poor little guy, after that we were very careful.

We haven't tried them as adults on beer, as Hardy had a bad hangover as a pup! We had read that malty beer is good for the redness in a coat, so put about 4 tablespoons in a bowl for the two to share. Laurel licked a bit, and gave up, and Hardy gutsed down the rest. Then he had an 'I'm sick' look all over his face, and slept straight for 6 hrs...so never again!!

What a hoot! A month after I adopted Shirley, I had some friends over and the next thing I know she is going around knocking everyone's beer over and lapping it up! She's a mess.

Sometimes when we have both been working in the garden, Gunther will say 'how about a beer?' While we are sitting down Sergeant will come up to me, I have to tip up the bottle and let him have the drops that are left in the bottom. (After all the good stuff is poured into a glass). It is usually a dark brown ale or even Stout. I think if we let him have any more he would turn into a proper lush!

Sergeant. 6 in October. Light brindle, natural ears. Full of fun.
