Does your boxer hate the vacuum?

Yesterday was the first time I ran the vacuum in front of my new addition, six month old Max. He actually picked the vacuum up while it was running and shook it back and forth. It was funny! It was also dangerous because it was actually on. So I just put him in his crate until I was finished since he was obviously distressed.

Anybody else's boxer do this???

Hehe…Pepper actually doesn’t mind the vacuum. I use it to “brush” here  She will stand and let me vacuum her, she just puts her snout next to the nozzle and sniffs. It is actually pretty cute

Titan doesn't mind the vacuum at all, he just lies there and watches me vacuum all around him. Then when I go to put the vacuum up, he gets up- go figure  Our other dog doesnt like the vacuum at all, course we do follow him around the house with the vacuum off taunting him a bit. It's funny to watch him try to get away from the evil vacuum.

Dillon

Super Boxer
Dillon is rediculous when it comes to the vacuum. He snarles, barks and growls at it all while jumping around it. I have just learned that I can't vacuum after 8pm anymore unless I want some upset neighbors.

Max will likely outgrow it. They usually go after anything that moves, a broom, rake, or any tool that moves along the ground. It is quite common among Boxer pups.

Indy and Ava don't bother with the vacuum anymore, but Ava will still go after the rake when I am raking leaves or grass. They both go after the lawnmower when I mow alongside their fenced in area. They only do it on the first pass which is against their fence. When I make the second pass, which is about 20 inches from the fence, they pay no attention to the mower.

Ali does not really care for the vacuum either. Sometimes she attacks it and other times she just runs into the other room and watches from a safe distance. It cracked me up the first time she did it...

Lucy will ignore it at first then coming running and attack it, she loves the hose though, you can stick that right in her face and she will lick it  Patch will go in the other room when I do it, he wants no parts :)

Maddie's dad

Super Boxer
Maddie's mom will probably chime in later, but Maddie attacks vacuums, brooms, rakes, shovels, and erc. With gusto I might add.

rocky ignores it now for the most part unless i am vacuuming toward him, but mimi is eight months old and she totally goes for it with gusto! she lunges at it and growls.

it is pretty funny. that and the hair dryer. both of my boxers think that the hot air from the hair dryer will kill on contact. silly babies!

not any more...

When we first brought Dutch home, she would bark and growl at the vaccum, I just kept telling her "no" in a nice voice, and she eventually stopped. She's now 6 months old... it doesn't bother her, she'll park it in the room where I'm vacumming and move as I get near her.... not afraid, just getting out of my way. :)
